.....and a Happy New Year!
Just want to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my friends and family! I hope it's the best one yet! Stay safe and healthy and keep the Christmas spirit in your heart all year! Let's pray for a wonderful 2009.
This photo is of my husband, my daughter and myself last year at Christmas. Yea, I'm the short one! LOL...Can't wait to create more memories with them this Christmas. All the best to you!

The Meaning of Christmas

My friend Jen, borrowed this from a fellow blogger named Stephanie Waite. I had to borrow it from her as this is truly what Christmas is all about. Enjoy!

The Meaning of Christmas

Just a week before Christmas I had a visitor. This is how it happened. I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed when I heard a noise in the front of the house. I opened the door to the front room, and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out from behind the Christmas tree. He placed his finger over his mouth so I would not cry out. "What are you doing?" I started to ask him.
The words choked in my throat, as I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. Gone was the eager boisterous soul we all know. He then answered me with a simple statement, TEACH THE CHILDREN!
I was puzzled: What did he mean? He anticipated my question, and with one quick movement brought forth a miniature toy bag from behind the tree.
As I stood there bewildered, Santa said, Teach the Children! Teach them the old meaning of Christmas. The meaning that a now-a-day Christmas has forgotten!
Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it on the mantle. Teach the Children that the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind. All the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning toward heaven.
He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR. Teach the Children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of that promise.
He then reached into the bag and pulled out a CANDLE. Teach the Children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness.
Once again he reached into his bag and then removed a WREATH and placed it on the tree.
Teach the Children that the wreath symbolizes the eternal nature of love. Real love never ceases. Love is one continuous round of affection.
He then pulled out from his bag an ornament of HIMSELF. Teach the Children that Santa Claus symbolizes the generosity and good will we feel during the month of December.
He reached in again and pulled out a HOLLY LEAF. Teach the Children the holly plant represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our Savior. The red holly berries represent blood shed by Him.
Next he pulled out a GIFT from the bag and said, "Teach the Children that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift. Teach the Children that the wise men bowed before the holy babe and presented Him with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. We should give gifts in the same spirit as the wise men."
Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a CANDY CANE and hung it on the tree. Teach the Children that the candy cane represents the shepherd's crook. The crook on the shepherd's staff helps bring back strayed sheep from the flock. The candy cane is the symbol that we are our brother's keeper.
He reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL. Teach the Children that it was the angels that heralded in the glorious news of the Savior's birth. The angels sang 'Glory to God in the highest, on earth, peace and good will.'
Suddenly I heard a soft twinkling sound, and from his bag he pulledout a BELL. Teach the Children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of a bell, it should bring people to the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance and return.
Santa looked at the tree and was pleased. He looked back at me and I saw the twinkle was back in his eyes. He said, "Remember, teach the Children the true meaning of Christmas, and not to put me in the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One who is, and I bow down and worship Him, our Lord, our God."

Long time, no post!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted. There's really no excuse as I recently quit my day job...YEA...so I should have lots of time to post here. But being that it is near Christmas, there are so many other tasks that must get done. My Christmas cards are all sent. Whew! What a relief! The wrapping isn't done yet but I don't have much of that to do anyway as we're going cheap this year. We finally finished decorating the tree tonight. Keri and I had lots of fun doing that. We took several photos of each other and really cracked each other up. I haven't laughed like that in a long time! It felt good! I will post photos of our tree as soon as I get them into my computer.
I do have this layout I made today to show you. I had so many leftover ovals from all the votive candle screens I made that I wanted to find a use for them. I came up with this great flower then worked around it for the rest of the layout of my granddaughters. I think this turned out so cute! I also used one of the die cuts from the Close To My Heart basic dazzling die cut set along with one of the chipboard hearts that come with them. I love the new January promotion from Close To My Heart called Key To My Heart. The stamp set is awesome! The scrollwork on this layout is from that stamp set and I used one of the papers as well. The butterflies are from the new Butterfly Wings set and I love that as well. So many uses for butterflies! Hope you enjoy this layout!

Four beautiful little ladies

I'd been admiring this layout in the current CTMH idea book ever since the book came out and finally had a chance to reproduce it. I LOVE this layout, especially the little ladies in the photo. The original photo was in color and had too much blue in it so I converted it to B&W to use for this layout. I am so happy with the way it turned out. I don't usually create layouts with only one photo on them as I take many photos of everything, and my family and friends can attest to that, but I just had to do this design. The colors used were creme brulee, black, tulip, NE ivy and goldrush from CTMH. Hope you all enjoy it!

Christmas Flip Album

Here's a great little handmade album that was soooo much fun to create! I actually have since added many embellishments to it but haven't taken any new photos of it.
You get the idea anyway. This was so easy to make and I have to thank a SU demonstrator (thanks Amy Celona) for the inspiration and directions. This album uses the Evensong paper pack from CTMH along with many different stamp sets. What great gifts these will make! Enjoy!

Fall Photos

Just thought I'd share a couple of my favorite fall photos with you. The first one is of our fall display that my husband created in my absence while I was in NY back at the end of September. Didn't he do a great job? Very proud of him and what a nice surprise to come home to! The second photo is a closeup of the orange mums. I totally love closeup shots of flowers! I am currently using this photo for the background on my computer! Just gorgeous! Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Layouts

I know it's a bit early for Thanksgiving but since I seem to be so behind all the time I wanted to show that once in awhile I can be ahead of the game. I wasn't sure how these would turn out as the colors used are not your typical Thanksgiving colors but lo and behold, they turned out gorgeous! My monthly scrapbook club ladies got a sneak peek at these during our last class and they are excited for the next class as these are the layouts they will be creating. I am really enjoying the monthly word puzzle stamp sets that Close to my Heart comes out with. I used the November one, obviously, on this one along with Barn Red and Juniper cardstocks and inks plus patterned paper from the Perfect Day paper pack. I also used the Chocolate alphabet stamp set for 'family' on the title. Hope I inspired you to get going on your Thanksgiving layouts as it is fast-approaching whether we like it or not! Have a great day!

Waitin' for the Ferry

These layouts are from our visit to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ back in July. My son and all his girls came to stay for a week from Indiana and we took them to the aquarium. These particular photos are from when we were waiting for the ferry to pick us up to return to Penn's Landing and our vehicles for the ride home after a fun day!

Discovering the Joy of Sharing

This is my version of the Notebook Workshops on the Go program by Close to my Heart. I made some minor adjustments since I didn't have the same size photos as was recommended. I'm quite pleased with these layouts. The little girlies in the photos are my granddaughters, Kira, Jaden and Samantha. They are just the cutest! Enjoy!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted! Here are some of my latest layouts and projects I've been busy working on.
I know Halloween is past but wanted to post these anyway as it might inspire someone to get their Halloween layouts done. I will most likely give these layouts to a family member or friend as I don't have any young children in my house anymore to use these for. I know, I know, I could use them for when my children were younger, you say, but I just don't have the time to go back that far in history right now. I have a hard time keeping up with the here and now!
Anyway, hope you all enjoy my newest artwork. Have a great day!

More cards

The first 3 were make 'n takes for the crop in NY. Everyone loved them! The last 3 were for my display boards and showed the artwork that could be created with the September Stamp of the month set called 'Treasure Life'.

Various Cards & Tags

A few cards and tags that I used for my display boards recently. Most use the most recent paper packs available through CTMH. I am really having fun with the newest papers. I think they're the best so far!

School Rules!

Here's a layout I created using a true fit file folder. This is what we will be creating in my next scrapbooking class. I gave my customers a sneak peek last month and I think they are looking forward to making this. We will also decorate the other side then it can be used to hold school papers as well as photos. Hope you enjoy!

Simply Sweet

Here's a layout using the Magic Moments paper pack from CTMH. As you can see, there's a LOT going on in this layout. Several different techniques and a whole bunch of embellies. Love it! I'm waiting for just the right photos of my granddaughters to put on this layout as they are all 'simply sweet'.

Merry Christmas Layout

Here's a layout I made using the Evensong Creative Basics papers from CTMH. This worked up very quickly and look how lovely it turned out. You can't really see some of the detail on the lower portion but I did stamp the same flower image using versamark and the centers of some of the flowers are where the brads are. Love this simple layout!
Hi all!
I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything. I've been very busy, as usual! I returned from my hometown of Elmira, NY this past Wednesday and I've been trying to get caught up. The crop that my sister and I hosted was a success. We were hoping for more attendees but we had a great time just the same. Maybe the next one will be bigger and better.
Anyway, I'm going to post a few layouts that I had made for my display boards for the crop. Hope you enjoy them! Until next time! Happy scrappin'!

Perfect Day Layouts

Here are the layouts I've created with the Perfect Day paper pack. Now you wouldn't really think that the 4 new colors or the Perfect Day pp would work well for Fall but that's what I thought, too, until I tried it. I absolutely LOVE this Fall layout. Photos can be attached to the fronts of the tags and the back is for the journaling. Enjoy!

Okay, it's been like forever since I've posted anything. That's because I've been so busy trying to create artwork for my display boards. I have another crop next month up in my hometown of Elmira, NY and I'm trying to plan ahead so I won't feel stressed the closer the day gets here. If any of you have family and/or friends in the Elmira area and they enjoy crops, send them our way. The date is Sept. 20th from 9:30 am till 5:00 pm. You can give them my email address, if they're interested. Thanks! Anyway, onto the really important stuff...new layouts!!! Yeah!
I've been having fun with 2 of the newest paper packs from CTMH...Perfect Day and Notebook. Love them both!!! Hope you enjoy these layouts! Email me if you want any info on them.

Fun in the Sun!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything. Forgive me. I've been busy with my other job! I really struggled to come up with a good layout using the Lazy Days of Summer paper pack and until I started adding embellishments, I really did not like this layout. It's starting to grow on me now. Hope you enjoy it!

A Day at the Beach

I've been trying to catch up on all the other important things I have to do, like housecleaning, laundry, food shopping and preparing for my son's visit that I haven't had a whole lot of time to scrap. But, here is a 2 page layout I have all ready to add photos to after we take the grandkids to the beach. They will be arriving from Indiana very late tonight for a week-long visit. Haven't seen them in almost a year so we're planning on having lots of fun! I'm thinking of using this layout for my next scrapbook class. What do you think?

The Many Faces of Travis

I love these photos of my newest nephew, Travis. He is just too darn cute! Such an easygoing little guy sure makes it easy for his parents. These photos were taken at my mom's house in Elmira when I visited back in April. This is only the second time I've seen this little guy. Wish I could see him more often. He's such a sweetie! I think he's about 10 months old here and will be 1 year old in a couple days.
I used papers and cardstock from CTMH's Free Spirit paper pack as they seemed to match well with the photos. I'm happy with the way they turned out. Enjoy!

H2O What Fun

I love how this layout turned out! It only took me a short time to make it, too! I used Ocean cardstock and a patterned paper from an old paper pack from CTMH. I also used the Typewriter Keys stamp set and plenty of white embellishments. Love these pages! These photos were taken last August while Ryan and his family were visiting in Elmira. The girls had a great time playing around in the pool at their great grandmama's house and didn't want to get out. Enjoy!

Fourth of July Layouts

Although the 4th of July is still some time away, I wanted to make these layouts to have them ready for photos and to show my customers the layouts we'll be making in class this month. We don't usually have a big celebration for the 4th but I'm hoping I'll have a few photos to work with as I really like how these pages turned out. Have a great day and stay cool! It's a hot one!
