CTMH-Scrapbook Challenge #4

Here's the next layout for the weekly challenge I'm involved in. This is based on the Minuet design in Close To My Heart's Imagine design book. I still have to add photos to it yet but will get to that later. This was a tough one for me but I enjoyed working with these papers. It is done with one of the newest paper packs from CTMH called Back Country. If you're an outdoorsie kind of person, you are going to LOVE this paper pack. If you'd like to see this paper pack and many more of the newest products from CTMH, please join me for my Open House on May 16th.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great day!

CTMH-Another Great Flip Book

I just had to share this flip book with you that was created by a newbie scrapbooker by the name of Ginny Meeks. She created this for her 8 year old granddaughter who will be celebrating her communion this weekend. This flip book is beautiful! It's even better in real life! I apologize for the poor quality on these photos but I didn't have time to make any adjustments in the camera as Ginny wanted to get on home after the long workshop. Kudos to Ginny for a beautiful flip book! Hope you all enjoy it!
Have a great day!

Photography Tip of the Day

Although I'm not an expert photographer, I do know that one of the best times of the day to snap photos is early morning. You will get a more true color of your subject before the sun gets too high in the sky. So when I finally dragged myself out of bed this morning, I say 'dragged' thanks to the allergy meds I had taken last night, and before I even had my first cup of coffee, I walked out my back door with camera in hand. I was so amazed to see how much the bushes and trees around my yard had really popped from the past three days of 90+ degree days we've been enjoying here.

My 'sand cherry' bush, that still shows damage from a nasty storm a few years ago, has the prettiest petite pink blossoms. They weren't there three days ago! And my lilac tree is really starting to pop! Lilacs are one of the most fragrant flowers and I absolutely love them! I only wish they made better cut flowers as I would love to have them in every room of my home to sweeten the air.

The 'birch tree' in my yard is my all-time favorite tree! We planted it when we first moved into our home over 16 years ago and every year it gets better and better. I love to watch it change from season to season and see how much it has grown from the previous year. I regularly take photos of it to document the changes. Many days I sit on my deck, staring at it and admiring it's beauty. I would be very sad if anything should ever happen to this tree.

Last of all, the tulips! What can I say about them? They never cease to amaze me year after year! They have such a short life and I try to enjoy them while they are here. This particular one is one of my favorites and seem to last longer than the typical tulips. I wish I could remember what kind they are. I do remember, though, purchasing them from a friend's son for a school fundraiser a few years ago so every time I look at them, I think of my friend.

I'll bet you all have some wonderful trees, bushes and flowers in your own backyard or even in your neighborhood that are just begging to be photographed. So get out there this morning before the sun rises too high and start snapping away! You'll be glad you did!

Thanks for visiting me today and if you live in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region of this wonderful country of ours, enjoy this last 90+degree day as tomorrow, it's back to reality! Have a great day!

CTMH-Stardust Layouts

Hope you all here in the Northeast are enjoying this beautiful day! I do believe it'll hit 90 today. Too warm for April, that is why I am spending most of my day inside trying to catch up on some scrapping. I know, I'm dumb! I really should be out enjoying the day but yesterday was just as beautiful and I was outside planting flowers all day so I decided to stay inside today. I will, however, get outside at some point later when I feel I've accomplished enough inside.

I started these 2 layouts a few weeks ago and after my latest trip to NY to visit family, I finally had some photos to finish them off! I love how these two layouts turned out! Although they are each one-page layouts, they will however be side by side in my album so I wanted to make them somewhat coordinated. I especially love "A Boy & His Grampa." Isn't it just too precious? My mom took these photos and I must say, she has really become quite a camera 'bug.' As soon as I saw these photos of my dad and my little nephew, I had an image of a scrapbook page in my mind. I think I pretty much created what was in my head. This is one page I will look back at many times!

The "Cousins/Friends" layout is of my nephew and great nephew. I think they are only about 18 months apart in age. It's hard to believe but one little guy's dad (my brother) is actually the great uncle of the other little guy. Therefore, these two guys are actually second cousins. I think I said that right! It's hard to figure out all that kind of stuff. Anyway, they are both just too cute. I enjoyed seeing them again.

I guess that's it for now! Hope you all have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

The kit comes with a D-size stamp set (which has a retail value of $22.95), White Daisy mini-medley embellishments, a foam brush, patterned papers, some with glitter, cardstock sheets and a sheet of die cuts. Ask me how you can get this beautiful kit for yourself!
It's a great value!

I also used the Be Yourself stamp set that is the May Stamp of the Month. This stamp set will be available beginning May 1. It is so cool!

CTMH-Scrapbook Challenge #3

Well, I'll bet you've all been wondering where I've been for the past week! I was visiting with family in my hometown up in NY state. My niece also had a Close To My Heart home gathering while I was there and it was quite successful, I might add. She is so excited to be receiving $40 worth of FREE CTMH products. It was great to spend time with the family! The time with them always seems to go too fast. But as the saying goes, there's no place like home! And I am happy to be back home.

Here's my newest layout from the latest scrapbook challenge for this week. This was created using the Then & Now design from Close To My Heart's Cherish design book. I am so NOT happy with this layout but I'm not going to re-do it. I am pleased with how the left page turned out but NOT happy with the right. It seems to be too busy but yet lacks something as well. Does that make sense? The photos, which were taken recently on my past 2 trips to my hometown to celebrate my mom and dad's birthdays, do go well with the colors of the papers. So I am pleased with that aspect of the layouts. I've been trying to use up some older papers and decided to use the Floral Tapestry papers from CTMH and the stickers to match along with a lot of chipboard, which I don't usually use very often.

If you're wondering which one of the 3 sisters I am, I'm the goofy one in the middle!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

CTMH-Scrapbook Challenge #2

Hi All! Here's another layout created from the Whoops-A-Daisy paper pack for the second challenge in a long line of challenges yet to come from fellow CTMH sister, Andrea Gardner, I hope! This is one paper pack I have always struggled with. I love the colors and the patterns on the papers but for some reason, it is a tough one for me to create with. So using this paper pack sure was a CHALLENGE for me. I hope you enjoy it!

I am off to watch my favorite show now so I'll bid you adieu. In case you don't know, my favorite show is LOST. Any other LOST fans out there? I have followed the show from day one and it still befuddles me! Do you feel the same or is it just me? Maybe that's why I love to watch it. It really keeps my brain from turning to mush as you really have to pay attention to what's going on or you miss something really quirky. Anyone who really knows me, knows I'm not a big fan of TV but I do have a few shows I try to watch every week and LOST is one of them. If I miss them, oh well! No biggie. I'll catch the reruns in the summer!

Hope you all have a great week! I'll be back next Tuesday. Thanks for looking!

Spring Has Sprung!

I thought I would share some photos of spring buds and blossoms I discovered around my home recently. I am so excited that Spring is finally here! I know it arrived officially almost a month ago but it still amazes me when the buds and blossoms start popping out. I only wish the weather would warm up a bit. I love to take photos of my flowers every year and never tire of seeing them. I will be posting layouts that I create with the photos after they are complete. Hope you enjoy the photos!
By the way, if anyone knows the name of those cute little purple flowers, please let me know! I planted them several years ago and can't for the life of me remember what they are called.
Thanks for looking and I hope you have a Happy Easter!

CTMH-Scrapbook Challenge #1

Here's a layout I made for a recent challenge by a Close To My Heart sister by the name of Andrea Gardner. The challenge was to create a 12x12 double page layout using the Abstract pattern in one of CTMH's wonderful design books called Cherish. I rarely ever follow a design to the 'T' but this time I pretty much did except for the papers used. The layout still isn't quite finished as I feel the need to add a few more small touches here and there but I wanted to post it now anyway before this challenge ends. All supplies used are from Close To My Heart. Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Our Humble Abode

Hubby took some photos of our humble abode today as he is quite proud of how nice it looks with the recent upgrades on paint and light fixtures. I created a collage with all the photos while I was playing with my photo program today. I think it looks pretty cool!
The shutters and door on our house are now Hunter Green as opposed to the Burgundy that we had for so many years. He also put in a new lamppost at the bottom of the driveway and new light fixtures by all the doors. I must say he did do a wonderful job! He surprised me with all this upon my return from a trip to NY a couple weeks ago. What a nice surprise. The nicest addition is the new wicker bench for the front porch. I LOVE it!
Notice the well-manicured lawn? First mowing of the Spring season and he couldn't wait to do it! He is always so proud of himself for the pattern he creates while mowing. Every time he mows, it's a different pattern. He is too funny!
Hope you all enjoy the photos! Thanks for looking and have a great day!
