My Beautiful Flowers

I just LOVE flowers, don't you? There are so many different, unique ones in various shades of color, that it totally amazes me! I never get tired of snapping photos of all my flowers. Flowers are such a great subject to photograph not only for their individual beauty but because they don't protest about having their photo taken as opposed to family and/or friends who always seem to say, "Oh, don't take my picture, I look horrible today"! Flowers NEVER look horrible even when their blooms are starting to wither.

Well, I am off to continue packing for my trip to NY tomorrow. I will be visiting family as well as hosting our bi-annual scrapbooking crop with my sister so I have lots to do yet to get ready. If you're going to be in the Elmira, NY area on Saturday between 9am and 5:30pm, please stop in at the St Mary's Marion Center on Franklin St. and say hi! Bring your scrapbooking supplies and have some fun!

Thanks for visiting my blog today. Have a great day!

Lemonade Stand Award

To my wondrous surprise, I was given this Lemonade Stand Award by a CTMH sister by the name of Jaime Benavides. I am really not too sure what this award is for but thank you so much, Jaime. The last time I received any kind of award was back in the second grade when I was a Brownie and won a plaque for a poster that I had created (wow, that was a long time ago!) so I am humbly honored to receive this!

Now it is my turn to choose who shall receive this award. Oh gosh! Who should I pick? I'll have to think about it and get back to you all.......hmmmmmmmmmmm???????

Okay, here you go! This was tough as everyone's blogs are totally awesome.
Drum roll, please!

THIS makes me happy!

On a lighter note, here are some photos of the nice things I saw on my stroll down my road.

I  spotted some little white flowers and have no clue what they are but thought they looked worthy of a photograph.

There is a small stream that feeds into a larger one which becomes part of the Elk Creek Watershed. You can't see it very well from the photo but it's there!

I also took a photo of a tree that reminded me of a crocodile. It was leaning on it's side, supported by another huge branch that had fallen. Do you see it, too? How awesome is that?

There is a farm down my road as well that has slowly been dwindling in size in the past 16 years we've lived here. There was a time it had many cows and the refrigerated milk trucks would travel back and forth after collecting the milk. One Mother's Day many years ago, about 5 of those cows somehow got out of their pen and found their way into our yard. I laugh when I think of that! My daughter had had a friend over to spend the night and when they got up in the morning on Mother's Day, they started shrieking after looking out the kitchen window. There in the backyard were several cows all messed up and scared to find themselves not in their own pasture. Our little beagle, God rest her soul, also freaked out and wanted to get out that door so fast and shoo them away. Of course, I didn't let her out as she probably would have been trampled by the cows. That is one memory that will last a lifetime! Too funny!

Well, I hope you've enjoyed at least this part of my stroll down my road, unlike the previous post. There is still some nice scenery to be enjoyed on this country road, if only you can look past the garbage.

Have a great day!

THIS makes me sad!

Since yesterday was such a gorgeous, warm, clear blue sky day, I decided to take a stroll down my rural country road, which I haven't done in awhile since I've been so busy lately and the traffic has picked up as well due to new developments in the area. It's actually quite scary to walk down my road any more. The people in the cars see you walking on the side of the road but they do not slow down! Very frustrating! I digress...

Anyway, I grabbed my camera before heading out the door in case I found anything interesting to photograph. Well, let me tell you...I found some interesting things, for sure! Nestled amongst the newly planted fields, overgrown berry bushes and woodchuck holes, I found a TON of garbage! I was so upset when I saw all that garbage on MY road. My husband has many times gone down the road with garbage bag in hand and picked up all kinds of trash. He would come back home and tell me just how much trash he had picked up. I never really believed him, I guess, until I saw it for myself and had to photograph it. This makes me so sad! How can anyone do this? And not feel guilty??? I don't understand! Ya know, the really sad part about this is...I have seen many, many young people throw stuff out their car windows as they travel down my road. Excuse me? Have we not been teaching the youngest ones how important it is to recycle and do their part for the environment? I hate to see what this planet will look like in 20 years from now, if the young ones today aren't getting the message.

The next time I head out the door for a walk, I think I will be carrying a trash bag as I don't like to see all that garbage on MY road.

Okay, that's enough complaining for one day! Hope you all enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. And while you're outdoors on this holiday weekend, pick up just one piece of trash and it'll make a difference!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

CTMH-Jeanette Lynton's Color Me Monday

Every Monday, the great and creative founder of Close To My Heart, Jeanette Lynton, posts her creations using a certain color palette. She calls this 'Color Me Monday'. Check it out for yourself at http://jeanettelynton.com. If you visit, please leave a comment. She reads every one of them!

Here is what I created using this week's color palette of Indian Corn Blue, White Daisy, Sorbet and Taffy. I LOVE these colors together! And I am loving the 'Comments' and 'Picture Perfect' stamp sets. I can see these getting used quite often!

The photo in this layout is of my mom when I visited her in NY last month to celebrate her 75th birthday. She is happily showing a photo of herself with my brother that my brother gave her as a gift. I know she will cherish that for a long time.

Thanks for stopping by today. Now I must go outside and enjoy the second gorgeous day in a row. It doesn't get any better than this! Have a great day!

A Bit of Nostalgia

How cool is this? While hubby was searching for his special water bottle he uses while riding his bicycle, the one he seems to have misplaced, he found 2 of these old kool-aid cups way in the back of the cabinet. I had totally forgotten they were still there hiding. I just had to take a photo and send it out to blogland for anyone who has ever owned one of these cups. Do you remember these? Do you still have them?

Hubby says, throw them away! I say, NO, these belonged to our children when they were youngun's. I just don't think I could throw them in the trash. What do you all think? Would you keep them or trash them? Please help me solve my dilemma!

I see a scrapbook page about this cup on the horizon!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

CTMH Tinkerin'

Just wanted to share the latest layout I created with one of the newest paper packs from Close To My Heart called 'Tinkerin'. Isn't this paper just perfect for those little boys in our lives? Although I have no little boys in my immediate family as we have granddaughters, this layout will probably hold photos I do have of my nephews.

I did very minimal stamping on this layout as you can see...just the small tag is stamped. I did however use my Cricut to create the other embellishments you see. What a fun layout to create! Perhaps I will use this layout for a class at my next crop. I think the ladies might like it!

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day!

CTMH-Scrapbook Challenge #7

I am so ahead of the game on this layout for Scrapbook Challenge #7. One of my CTMH sisters, Helen Onulak at www.hookedonstamping.com, who is in charge of telling us what design to use for these challenges, lets us know every Sunday what design we must use for each new challenge. Well, since yesterday was Sunday, I am so proud of myself for completing this in less than a day after receiving the order. Now I can relax for 6 whole days before the next challenge comes around. This layout uses the Understudy design from Close To My Heart's Imagine design book.

This layout was lots of fun to create with minimal stamping. Since I really don't have any stamp sets that match this particular paper pack, Animal Cookies, I was able to get around that by just using some embellishments and lots of colorful circles. The little people in the photos are my nieces and nephews as my own children are all growed up! Thank God! LOL...hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

CTMH-Scrapbook Challenge #6

Here's my latest layout for the weekly scrapbook challenge I am involved in. This layout uses 2 different patterns from the Reflections design book from Close To My Heart--Half & Half-Top Focus and Treasure Pocket-Main. I am totally enjoying these challenges as they are helping me to get caught up with my scrapbooking. Plus I am also able to use these designs for my monthly scrapbook classes. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for visiting!

CTMH-Bath and Body Box

Okay, it's been a few days since my last post and I figured you're probably all getting anxious to see what I've been creating lately so here's a little box I created last night that is supposed to be used for bath and body products to give as a gift. Even though it is made out of textured cardstock which is heavier than regular cardstock, it still doesn't seem sturdy enough to hold bath products. I am thinking of using it for stationary, note cards or notepads and such. What do you think?

I found the tutorial for this project at Lizzie Anne News. It arrived in my emailbox so I don't have a direct link to it but if you go to www.lizzieannedesigns.com, I think you can find it there.

Now back to creating as I still have a few projects to complete before my Open House tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great day!

CTMH-New Rainy Day Artwork

As promised in a previous post, here is some of the new artwork I created during these past few rainy days. The first one is a 12x12 scrapbook page made using the new Bella paper pack from Close To My Heart. I also used the stamp set, It's Your Day, which happens to be the August Stamp of the Month. I know I'm a little ahead on that but wanted to try it out. I love it!

The second one is a 3x3 mini album, which by the way, works up very quickly. I again used the new Bella papers for this along with the Buttoned Together stamp set.

And last but not least, is the new 3 ring binder album made by CTMH. I think this little album is going to be a big hit as it can be used for so many subjects, ie: vacation (I chose to title this 'staycation' as this album will be used for photos of my son and his family when they come to visit this summer-we will do day trips), recipes, gramma's brag book to name a few and I'm sure you all could think of many other uses as well. I also used the new Moon Doggie paper pack for this album along with the Extreme Happiness stamp set and several others.

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my latest creations. Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great one!

P.S. The sun is shining today! Finally! Yea!!!

Enough Already!

Okay, enough is enough! I have had it with this rain. This is the eighth straight day of it and I'm getting water-logged! I guess Mother Nature decided to punish us after those 4 beautiful 90+ degree days we had awhile back just prior to all this wet stuff. The only good thing that has come from all these rainy days is I've been able to accomplish quite a bit of artwork as the rainy, dreary days have me stuck inside.

I'm heading to bed right now but will try to post some new stuff for you all tomorrow. I think the sun (wait, what's that? the sun???) may shine tomorrow. I sure hope it doesn't hurt my eyes! Good night and thanks for stopping by!

CTMH-Scrapbook Challenge #5

Here's the latest layout for the weekly scrapbook challenge using the Easy Inspiration design from CTMH's 'Cherish' how-to-book. This is the layout that my monthly scrapbook class ladies will be creating. The ladies decided they wanted to do a layout for Mother's Day AND Father's Day using the Magic Moments paper pack. Since that paper pack can be used for either gender, it was a great choice! Although it was a bit of a struggle trying to keep the pages well-coordinated without using too many different colors, I think it turned out pretty decent. What do you think?

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Happy May Day!

I am so excited about today! There's a lot of new stuff coming your way beginning today. The new Close To My Heart Summer Idea Book goes 'live' today. I can't wait to show you some of the wonderful artwork I'll be creating with all the new products.

The May Stamp of the Month is also available now. It is called 'Be Yourself' and it is perfect for creating cards, layouts and other paper crafts for all the women in your life. I gave you a sneak peek of that stamp set with the cards I posted a few days ago using the 'Tickled Pink' scrapbooking kit that is featured for National Scrapbooking Month. The 'Tickled Pink' scrapbooking kit will be available only until the end of May so be sure to order yours soon.

Also available starting today is the new card design book from Close To My Heart called 'Wishes.' I am so excited about this bit of news as it wasn't supposed to be available until June but has arrived a month early. As soon as I have that book in my hot little hands, I will post some new creations for you all to see.

If you're as excited as I am about the new Summer Idea Book then head on over to my website and check it out for yourself. If you attend my Open House on the 16th, you'll be able to see all the great new products in person. Hope to see you then!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
