Close To My Heart-Sweet Home Tri-Fold Card

Isn't this card just too awesome? I'd been seeing several of these made by my sister CTMH consultants lately and loving them so much that I decided to give it a try for myself. What an easy peasy card to make and how beautiful it turned out! I used one of the newest paper packs from Close To My Heart called 'Sweet Home' and the stamp set that comes with the Workshop on the Go kit for this paper pack. This paper pack is so cool! I love everything about it especially the fact that it is double-sided because the opposite side is just as gorgeous as the front. Now to figure out who the lucky recipient of this beautiful card will be! That is the question! Hope you enjoy it!

CloseTo My Heart Scrapbook Challenge #25

Wow! Can you believe we are now in week 25 of the Weekly Scrapbook Challenge? It's amazing how fast the time has gone and to realize how many layouts I have created since the challenge began all those weeks ago. I have participated in this challenge since the very beginning and haven't missed a week yet. I'm so proud of myself and happy that I have been able to keep up with my scrappin'.

Anyway, this layout was created with the Game On paper pack from Close To My Heart. It was a new paper pack quite some time ago but I never really took the time to play with it. The design used for the layout is from the 'Cherish' how-to book by CTMH and the name of the design is 'Portrait Collection'. I used the Rustic Alphabet for the large letters, The Works Alphabet for the rest of the title, the Chocolate Alphabet for the date and the Classmate Alphabet for the small words. Other products used: black cardstock and ink, desert sand ink, bamboo cardstock and ink, twill ribbon, black bitty brads and swirls along with some dimensional elements chipboard pieces.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have a good one!

Rekindling an Old Friendship

Have you ever had a best friend in high school? One who you hung around with, got into trouble with and totally had fun together with, then you lose track of through the years? Well, I had such a friend and we hadn't had any contact for over 30 years until a few days ago when she found me on Facebook, of all places! Go figure! LOL...

Anyway, Barb totally was my best friend up until just before we graduated high school 35 years ago. I'm not sure if either one of us can actually remember what happened to our friendship but I'm guessing it was probably just silly high school stuff. Our lives went in different directions after that..I got married, moved to Seattle, started a family then back to the East Coast 3 years later. Not back to my hometown but several hours away. So why did we never get in touch again? I know I thought of her often through the years and wondered how she was doing but life got in the way and I never took the time to touch base with her again.

Barb and I were inseparable while in high school. We rode our bikes, (well, she rode her bike and I rode her sister's cuz I didn't have a 10 speed!), all around town, we walked the streets on warm summer evenings (get your mind out of the gutter...not that way!) looking for other friends to hang out with, we used to bake cookies and treats at each other's houses, and we loved to take goofy pictures of each other. Those were the good ol' days! Not a care in the world but to just have fun! Oh, how I miss that!

Well, Barb and I are going to get together next month to reminisce about those good ol' days gone by. It will be nice to see her again and see how much we've changed (besides the wrinkles and added weight) or stayed the same. I think we've always had a connection through the past 30 + years without even knowing it as I found out that she has a son and a daughter, same as me, and they are 6 years apart, same as mine, the oldest being a boy, same as me! I also found out she is an avid scrapbooker and cardmaker like myself! How cool is that? Oh, how I wish we had kept in touch all these years! We missed out on so much of each other's lives. But, I am looking forward to getting to know each other again.

I thought I would post a couple old photos of myself and my high school BFF, Barb. Hope you don't mind, Barb! Weren't we just too cute? The quality of the photos isn't that great as I had to rescue them from those old style photo albums and scan them.

So if you have lost touch with someone who was a good friend or BFF to you in the past, try to find that person. You may be surprised how much you still have in common after all those years.

Here's a picture of me when I was 16, almost 17...the summer before 12th grade.

This is Barb..she had already turned 17 a few days before this picture was taken.

Here's a picture of us sitting on her front porch just having fun during the summer of 1973. Sorry it's so blurry. We weren't very good photographers back then with our cheap little cameras.

Hope you've enjoyed reading my story today and that I didn't bore you too much! Thanks for stopping by! Have a good one!

It's a Beautiful Day!

I thought I'd share a few photos with you of the beautiful day we're having today here in the Mid-Atlantic region. When I glanced out my back door this morning and saw the perfectly blue sky, I knew I had to snap a few photos before the sun got any higher in that beautiful blue sky. I also noticed a family of bluebirds flitting around from tree to tree, chasing bugs and hopefully, eating the rest of those darn caterpillars that come from the tent worms that love to invade our black walnut trees every year. The past couple weeks, those caterpillars have been marching straight towards my house, invading my front porch and climbing up the side of the house. Don't know why they do that but they sure are annoying. I was outside every day spraying them with bug killer and knocking them off the house with a broom. I know, that's silly but they drove me nuts! Anyway, I hope wherever you are, it's a beautiful day as well and you are enjoying what's left of the summer!

One of the many bluebirds hanging around my house today.

Another bluebird! Can you see it?

The cute birdhouse my hubby bought for our garden. There's my favorite tree in the background, our Birch that we planted from a seedling 16 years ago.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

CTMH-Scrapbook Challenge #24

The next layout for the Weekly Scrapbook Challenge! In anticipation of the beautiful Fall foliage that is yet to come, I dug out an old paper pack called, 'Abundance'. This was always a favorite of mine and I'm sorry that Close To My Heart has retired it. But no doubt, there are other awesome papers to take it's place.

I used the new Many Thanks and Grateful Hearts stamp sets on this layout and I am totally loving these two stamp sets. I also used the 'Abundance' stickers, twill ribbon, Cocoa, Autumn Terracotta and Goldrush inks, hemp and metal swirls. I used a bit of Gold Stickles glitter on the leaf veins although you may not be able to tell in the photo. I am not a big glitter person as I usually wear more than what goes on my projects but I do love how the leaves turned out.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

CTMH Scrapbook Challenge #23-Jingle Layout

Here's my latest layout for the Weekly Scrapbook Challenge. I know it's a bit early to be thinking Christmas but I really like this paper. The design for this layout came from the 'Imagine' how-to book from Close To My Heart. I used one of the patterned papers from the Creative Basics Jingle Collection along with Juniper and Tulip cardstock. I love the two different papers that come with this collection and have played with them quite a bit. The collection also comes with a spool of Juniper grosgrain ribbon to add just the right touch to your cards and layouts. This layout features the 'Holiday Warmth' stamp set which is the Stamp of the Month for October. Ask me how you can get this set at a discount or even FREE!

Thanks for looking! Have a great day!
