Unscripted Sketches #48~CTMH Thank You Card

I tried something quite different on this week's Unscripted Sketches challenge and not too sure if I'm pleased with it or not. I think it'll have to 'grow' on me. Your opinion is greatly appreciated!

Anyway, I used 2 colors of reinkers, Hollyhock and Olive, to dye a paper coffee filter. I'm not totally thrilled with the results but it's not too bad. I put a few drops of reinker on a glass plate, then spritzed with a bit of water to blend the colors. Since I don't like to waste anything, I used the leftover reinker on the plate to color a piece of cardstock then used my die cut machine to punch out two leaves, then stamped the sentiment on another small piece. If you try this technique, please share your artwork. I'd love to see it!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great day!

It's a Miracle! Kit, that is, for National Scrapbooking Month in May!

Just wanted to give you a sneak peek at the special that's coming up for National Scrapbooking Month in May. You can actually begin purchasing this kit or receiving it FREE starting April 15, which also happens to be 'tax day', so you won't forget about this special, will you? And it is available till May 31, 2010 or while supplies last.

The Miracle Kit gets it's name because it's a miracle that it doesn't take a long time to put together but looks like it does! It is very quick and easy to put together. There's no stamping involved! What? No stamping? But I LOVE to stamp! Yes, but sometimes, a very quick and easy kit is a good thing so you can see results right away. How awesome is that?

If you look closely, you can see some new products that just might be in the new catalog coming soon to a Close To My Heart consultant near you! Enough said!

There will be several ways for you to get this kit, either at a discount or even FREE, so stay tuned for more details. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek! And my cute little granddaughters, too!

For You~Crimped Envelope Pocket Card

I was perusing the splitcoaststampers website the other day looking for something different to create and came across the instructions for making this cute little card. It was so quick to make, it really surprised me! It's made out of a regular size envelope. Can you believe that? I think this would make an awesome holder for a gift card. Perhaps attach the gift card to the back of the insert or just notch the insert to hold the gift card. What would you do with this card?

Flower Pot Cards

These flower pot cards are so stinkin' cute that I had to share them with you. They are also easy peasy to make. This card was inspired by a CTMH sister by the name of
Lisa Stenz. I believe the original design came from the splitcoaststampers.com website but I am not 100% sure. If you go there and do a search for flower pot cards, you may find the instructions.

The first card uses Twilight and Sorbet colors along with a piece of patterned paper from the 'Emporium' paper pack and the second one uses Blush and Garden Green along with a patterned paper from That's Amore'.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Happy Spring!

Isn't it great that Spring has finally arrived? After that long cold snowy Winter I am sooo ready for Spring! And Mother Nature was so good to us the past 6 days when she graced us with temps in the 70's and nothing but clear blue skies! Back to reality today though with clouds and a bit of rain.
The first sure sign of Spring is the Tulips, of course, and they are popping up all over!

This next photo is a bud from our Bradford Pear tree. I sooo can't wait for these blossoms to pop out as they are absolutely beautiful.

This is the new birdbath we bought as the one from last year was totally beat up. Can you tell we're a bit anxious for warmer weather? I'm sure the birdies aren't ready to bathe here yet as it's still too cool for that.

I can't remember what kind of tree this is but I love the yellow buds on it. Soon it will really be full of blossoms.

And last but not least, here is a shot of the cool-looking bark on our Birch tree, which happens to be my most favorite tree on our property. We planted it when we first moved into this home 17 years ago and it is just a magnificent tree to me. I love to photograph it through every season and never get tired of looking at it.

Thanks for looking today! Hope you have a great day!

Close To My Heart~Chalk Popping Layout

Remember when I told you about the new episode of Art & Soul on CTMH TV the other day? Well, I mentioned that I was heading to my scraproom to create a layout similar to the one demonstrated in the video using the chalk technique and here it is.

Paper used is 'Caboodle', just like in the video. I used the Versamark inkpad to stamp the flower image, which comes from the 'Treasures' stamp set, on vellum then rubbed chalk on the image to make it pop! I used the Versamark inkpad and chalk for the little flowers on the journaling block, as well. Added a few embellishments and some photos and voila! It was done!

Well, except for the journaling, it's done! I am so bad about getting the journaling done. One of these days, I will sit down and do nothing but the journaling on all my layouts to get caught up. After all, journaling is a VERY important part of scrapbooking. It's all about the storytelling for passing down from generation to generation.

Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

Unscripted Sketches #46~Somebunny Loves You

Here's the newest sketch for the weekly unscripted sketches challenge. Instead of making a card, I chose to create a layout for this challenge. Although I do enjoy making cards, scrapbooking is truly my passion.

This layout was created with one of the newest paper packs from Close To My Heart called 'Caboodle'. The colors of this paper pack are perfect for those little people in your life and as soon as I get more photos of my newest granddaughter, they will adorn this layout. Hope you enjoy it!

Close To My Heart~File Folder Album

I thought I'd share this little album that I made yesterday using a True Fit Folio File Folder from Close To My Heart. A very talented lady by the name of Kelly English-Triggs created the design for this album a few years ago and it has been a big hit ever since.

I used one of my favorite paper packs, Paper Garden, to make this album. I never get tired of this paper. It is so cheery and reminds me of Spring and all that is good in this world. For a short time, I forget all my problems and just play.

These albums make excellent gifts so if you would like to learn how to make one, give me a shout. I'd be more than happy to show you how.

Have a great day and happy scrappin'!

Close To My Heart Scrapbook Challenge #49~Earth Laughs in Flowers

Here's the latest layout in the weekly scrapbook challenge. Wow, did I have fun, fun, fun, with this layout! I went a little wild but I LOVE the results! I still have to do the journaling yet but otherwise, it is done! You can't tell from the photo but I popped up the 2 circle photos and the top photo on the right page just to give the layout some dimension. I also used quite a few of the Filigree Charms metal flowers for the first time and I am really loving them. They are so pretty! I've heard that you can color them with ink, chalks or paint but I haven't wanted to alter them yet because I love them just the way they are! Hope you enjoy looking at the layout as much as I enjoyed making it!

Products used are all Close To My Heart:
  • 9030 Imagine~Shadow design
  • X7114B Bella paper pack

Check out the newest episode of Art & Soul on Close To My Heart TV~~A Fling with Spring! It is awesome! And aren't we all ready for Spring after the horrible Winter we've had? I know I am! After watching this episode, I am heading to my scraproom and getting out my chalks to create the featured layout and anything else I can come up with.

Two New Close To My Heart Cards

I thought I'd share a couple new cards with you. Sorry they're a little on the fuzzy side. I think I need new glasses as they didn't look fuzzy when I took the pictures. LOL...anyway, I hope you enjoy the cards!

From Various Cards
I used Orange and Chocolate inks on the first card and Hollyhock ink on the second. One of the stamp sets used on both cards is from the Felicity Collection which was a special back in January. I also used a stamp set called 'TLC' on the first card, 'Noted Backgrounds' and 'Fringed Phrases' on the second card.

The little birdie was made using the second-generation stamping technique so it looks like I used two different shades of ink but it's actually just one. The white stitches were created with a white gel pen. Yea, they're fake stitches! Although I used to be quite a seamstress back in the day, I have yet to actually try stitching on cards or scrapbook pages. I'm so afraid of ruining the paper and having to start over.

Hope you enjoy the cards! And thanks for stopping by!

Unscripted Sketches #45

Here's the card I made with the latest sketch from Unscripted Sketches. This was so quick and easy to make and I really needed a quick one so I can get caught up with my various projects. I used the wonderful More To Adore paper pack from Close To My Heart. I had it out on my scrap table as I was using it to make a scrapbook layout for the weekly scrapbook challenge which I will be posting right after this one, so I figured why not use it for the card sketch as well. Love how it turned out!

I need your opinion on this CTMH 'Piece of Cake' card!

Another very talented Close To My Heart consultant had posted a couple cards on her blog last month using the February Stamp of the Month ~Piece of Cake ~ and I liked them so much I decided to create my own version. Here are two cards I made today after being inspired by Karen Pedersen.

I really need your help on this though as I created one with color and one without and I don't know which one I like the best. So if you were offered to make one of these cards at a card workshop, which one would YOU choose? Please let me know!

Thanks for looking! Have a great day!
