This week's Heart2Heart challenge is a ribbon challenge. You MUST use at least 2 different ribbons in/on your project. This was kind of a struggle for me as I'm not a big ribbon user. I like to use brads more than ribbon but I was able to find 2 ribbons to make this cute little fence card work.
Don't you just love the whole 'fence' concept of this card? I got this idea from another Close To My Heart consultant (sorry, I can't remember who as I am really bad about that) quite some time ago and I have made a few of them. They are just too cute!
There are several CTMH products at play here so the supply list is quite long for such a small card but here it is:
Have fun creating your own artwork and be sure to use at least 2 different ribbons! Check out the creations of all the Design Team members when you go to enter the link for your own creation on the Heart 2 Heart Challenges blog.
Here is my creation for last week's Weekly Scrapbook Challenge. I am a day behind on posting but it WAS done yesterday! I started this on Tuesday after having received my new 'Passages' paper pack from Close To My Heart. I was so excited to get my hands on more of the newest products so I could have plenty of awesome artwork to show you all.
I love my backyard as most of you know. I take tons of photos of the wonders around my home. I never get tired of looking at them. Although it's not as exciting as some exotic location, it's all ours and we love spending time here, not to mention that it doesn't cost a thing and there's no traveling required! I hope you enjoy the layout as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Supplies used are all Close To My Heart:
9029 Cherish~Elegant Context design
X7126B Passages paper pack (available May 1st)
A1104 A Tweet
D1416 State of Mind
D1271 April Word Puzzle (retired)
Z1156 Dimensional Elements~Borders
Z1217 Antiqued Copper brads
Z2114 Cocoa ink
Z2120 Garden Green ink
Z2104 Barn Red ink
Z1151 3-D Foam Tape
Thanks for stopping by. Hope it's a great day for you!
I thought I'd share a couple projects I made recently using some of the newest products from Close To My Heart. They will be available May 1st! Yea! Aren't you getting excited? I know I am because I get to show you more fabulous products when you come to my Open House on that very same day!
Anyway, the first project is a 4 1/2 inch square clear card (think 'new') that I made into a photo frame. The second photo shows the frame with a photo added. And can you guess who that little cutie is? Yep, she's my newest little granddaughter, Scarlet, born February 9th.
The second project is a 4 1/2 inch scalloped clear card (think 'new' again) that I made into a...you guessed it...card! It was a bit of a challenge as you want to be sure to hide any adhesive you use but it was fun to make! Notice the cherry paper! How cute is that? And the stamps! I think I'll be using them a lot!
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope it's a good one for you!
Our third week for this challenge! Woohoo! I am having a lot of fun with this and totally enjoying all the wonderful creations you all are posting for this challenge. I am so amazed at how many of you have chosen to join us in just the first 2 weeks. Thank you! Keep them coming! It's exciting!
It is very important that you are sure to use mostly CTMH products in your creations otherwise, you are disqualified as a contender for the Friday Five and/or for the weekly prize whenever we have a sponsor. This week we do happen to have a sponsor by the name of Diane Cook. I am familiar with Diane as she is a member of my CTMH Coastal Stars unit. She does wonderful work and will be offering up a fabulous prize package for this week's challenge. So be sure to follow the instructions for your chance to win and post to our challenge blog.
Now our third challenge is a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch we are supposed to follow and here is a card I created. I really love how this card turned out even though I'd never made a flower like this before. Go figure! It's not hard, just never thought to try it before. I used my Slice machine to cut out 4 different sizes of scalloped circles, then spritzed them with a bit of water, scrunched them up, then opened them up and let them dry. I then punched a hole in the center of each and attached a brad with a bit of Crystal Blue Waxy Flax. I also put a few Bitty Sparkles on the petals of the flower to give them some bling! What a difference they made!
Close To My Heart supplies used:
Miracle kit scraps (Special for National Scrapbooking Month in May, ask me about it!)
X7105B Two patterned papers from Emporium paper pack
1285 Heavenly Blue cardstock
Z1212 Heavenly Blue brads
Z1263 Bitty Sparkles
Z1247 Crystal Blue Waxy Flax
Z1099 Twill Ribbon
Z1218 Colonial White brads
Okay, now it's your turn to post your artwork for this challenge. Get to work then come back here and post. While you're here, don't forget to check out all the beautiful artwork posted by our Design Team.
Here is my creation for this week's unscripted sketches challenge. You will notice that I did a 'flip' over this. I couldn't get this sketch to work for me no matter what I did so I flipped it upside down and went right to work. It was so much easier for me to work with once I'd flipped it. Hope you like it! And the sneak peek of one of the papers from the new Splendor paper pack.
Here's my layout for this week's scrapbook challenge. Can you guess what photos will be going on here? Gee, that's a tough one, isn't it? LOL...anyway, you all know how much I love the flowers and trees around my home and you're probably quite used to seeing layouts with them as the subject, right? Well, they don't give me a hard time when I take their photos so they are my best subjects. Hope you enjoy the layout!
This is a case where I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I had zoomed my camera in close to photograph the birdbath in our garden and lo and behold, a bluebird landed on it! How cool is that? He proceeded to jump in the fresh water that I had refilled it with a short time earlier so he could get himself clean for his lady friend. Well, you know how us women are. We like our men clean! LOL Splish, splash I was taking a bath! (Isn't this an awesome shot, splashes and all?) Aw, that was refreshing! Time to shake off the water! There, how do I look? Bad hair day, huh?
I hope you enjoyed my photos today! I thought they were just too cool not to share! Have a good one! ~Carol~
Here's my latest creation for the weekly unscripted sketch challenge. I'm not totally pleased with this card but decided to post it anyway. I had made the background of this card awhile ago by using reinkers and it's been sitting on my worktable calling to me ever since so I figured I'd give it a try for this challenge.
I used a stamp set that had come in the Close To My Heart 'Jingle' Workshop on the Go kit awhile back but I had never used it. I also used some ribbon from the Buttercup Collection and a Buttercup swirlie thing.
Hope you enjoy the card even though it's not my best work! Thanks for stopping in! Have a great day!
Rolling right along we are now on week #2 of the Heart2Heart Challenges. The challenge for this week is a 1/2/3 challenge. What is that, you ask? Well, it means you have to use 1 Close To My Heart stamp, 2 different patterned papers and 3 embellishments, either the same or different. And there's your 1/2/3 challenge! Join in and have some fun!
I chose to create a layout for this week's challenge. This is a layout of my son and his wife who got married in our backyard last July. Yes, I am still behind on my scrapbooking! I rarely create one page layouts and especially any with only one photo but this just seemed to come to me very quickly when I picked up some scraps left from the 'Miracle' scrapbooking kit that is a special for National Scrapbooking Month in May. This kit will be available starting April 15th and will run through the end of May or while supplies last so be sure to let me know if you want one.
Supplies used for this challenge are all Close To My Heart:
Scraps of patterned paper and chipboard pieces from 'Miracle' scrapbooking kit (available April 15th)
D1408 A Little Everything (March 2010 SOTM)
1385 White Daisy cardstock
Z2114 Cocoa ink
Z2314 Cocoa marker
Z2117 Crystal Blue ink
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you enjoy all the design team's artwork!
Here's my layout for the 53rd week of the weekly scrapbook challenge that has been such an awesome way for me to get my scrapbooking done. It is so hard to believe that it's been a whole year since I started with this weekly challenge. I must admit, I never thought I'd really stick to it or even be able to. What a great accomplishment! Now if I could only get photos on all these layouts then get them into albums, that would be my best accomplishment of all! I wanted to show you the detail of the flower in the left hand corner of the left page. I started with the chipboard circle and built it all up from there. The next photo shows how I popped some of the elements up for more dimension. Supplies used are all Close To My Heart:
9031 Reflections~Main Frame-Tied Together & Quartet-Sliding
Here's my card for this week's Unscripted Sketches challenge. I used 'Grace' papers from Close To My Heart and made a cool flower using a 1 1/2 inch circle punch. If you want to know how to make these cool flowers, you'll have to get a new CTMH Summer 2010 catalog from me. The directions are inside so be sure to come to my Open House on May 1st to get your copy. Hope you enjoy the card! Thanks for stopping by tonight. Have a good one!
Here's my latest layout in the weekly scrapbook challenge I participate in. I know I'm a bit late on this but you know how that goes! I am now ready to get started on #53. These are photos of my newest little granddaughter and her mommy and daddy. Isn't she just the cutest? Well, maybe I'm a bit partial but she is just too cute! The journaling will go on the tag tucked under the large photo on the left page.

Welcome to the first Heart 2 Heart Challenge hosted by Mary Vogel and a select group of Close To My Heart consultants called the Design Team or 'DT' for short. I am so excited to be bringing this challenge blog to you and most proud to be a member of the very first Design Team. This weekly challenge blog is a venue for us to show what fantastic products Close To My Heart has to offer. I hope you will find inspiration here and will join us each week to share your beautiful artwork.
Some of the rules for participating in the weekly challenges:
Although you must use Close To My Heart products in your creations, you do not need to use 100% CTMH.
You must follow the details of each challenge closely.
There will be a top five, H2H Friday Five, announced every week on Friday at the end of a challenge so you must have your project submitted by 10pm on Sunday of the week of the challenge.
Every month, at the end of the month, we will choose a guest DT member from all the chosen Friday Fives for the month. So be sure to do your best work in order to be included in 2 weeks of challenges the following month.
Sponsored prizes will be chosen at random by random.org.
The first challenge was to use these three colors ...Sweet Leaf, Sunflower and Chocolate. Now you really wouldn't think that these colors would go together, would you? Well, I didn't either until I started playing around with them and came up with the card below. I am actually very pleased with this card. I liked it so much I decorated the inside as well. I used a couple different techniques on this card~dry embossing and ink distressing. A little bit of Liquid Glass on the candle flames makes them come to life! The stamp set used is 'Piece of Cake' which was the Stamp of the Month for February 2010. Although it is no longer available, perhaps many of you already have the stamp set and can share it with those who don't.
Below is a list of all supplies used:
1242 Sunflower cardstock
X5643 Chocolate cardstock
1388 Colonial White cardstock
D1407 Piece of Cake stamp set
X7105B Patterned paper from Emporium
Patterned paper from Magic Moments
Z1102 Colonial White ribbon
Z679 Liquid Glass
Z1217 Antiqued Copper brads
Z2111 Chocolate ink
Z2350 Sunflower marker
Z2353 Sweet Leaf marker
