Heart2Heart Challenges~H2H9~Sketch

Monday morning already? Where does the weekend go? Happy Memorial Day, by the way. I hope you all have been enjoying the holiday weekend. I am enjoying the weekend up in NY with a visit to see my family whom I haven't seen since last October. Talk about where does the time go! It is so hard for me to believe it's been 7 months since my last visit to my hometown. Wow! I don't miss the town, just my family!

Anyway, since it is Monday again, it's time for another Heart2Heart challenge and this one is a sketch. I enjoyed making this 6 x 6 card with the new Passages paper pack from Close To My Heart. I also chose to use an older stamp set, 'Make It Count', that has been one of my favorites for a long time. I do believe this set is still available.

Supplies used:
X7126B Passages paper pack
D1257 Make It Count stamp set
1388 Colonial White cardstock
X5637 Barn Red cardstock
Z2114 Cocoa ink
Z2104 Barn Red ink
Z1275 Copper brads and buckle
Z1316 Cocoa ribbon
Z2314 Cocoa marker

I hope you enjoy the card! Now jump on over to the Heart2Heart challenge blog and check out the rest of the design team's fabulous artwork. If you get a chance, create your own artwork using the sketch and post a link so we can check it out. Thanks for stopping by!

Heart2Heart Challenges~H2H8~Stamped Background

It's Monday morning again and time for the next Heart 2 Heart Challenge! The challenge for this week is to random stamp your own background. I LOVE to random stamp as you may or may not have noticed from last week's challenge, so I had no problem coming up with something for this challenge. I used the colors of Topiary, Goldrush and Moonstruck for this layout of a bluebird in our birdbath. These colors were just perfect! You may also recall the photos from an earlier blog post.

The first photo shows you what the background looks like before adding the photos because I noticed that after adding the photos, the background can hardly be seen! Sorry! : ( I could not crop the photos any smaller in order to see more of the background. I would have lost too much of the beautiful photos. Not sure if you can tell but I also punched out small circles from the leftover random stamped paper to use as number markers to coincide with the journaling strips.

Supplies used:
D1242 Doodle Alphabet stamp set
B1349 Summer Wishes stamp set
1385 White Daisy cardstock
X5635 Topiary cardstock
1243 Goldrush cardstock
1293 Moonstruck cardstock
Z2155 Topiary ink
Z2123 Goldrush ink
Z2134 Moonstruck ink

Now head on over to the Heart2Heart challenge blog and check out the rest of the design team's creations. You will be amazed! Feel free to post your own creation as well for a chance to win a fantastic prize package from this week's sponsor, Ruth Nava. Click here to check out her blog.

Heart2Heart Challenges #7~H2H7~Color Challenge

It's Monday morning again and time for the next Heart 2 Heart challenge. This week's challenge is a color challenge and can I just mention how hard these colors, Ocean, Topiary and Desert Sand were to work with? I didn't think they would be but they were. It took me a couple different tries to come up with something I really liked and I was so surprised to see how cute this little basket turned out after all. Gosh, I was worried for nothing! Haha! I couldn't quite come up with the perfect surprise to put inside the basket so I made a set of 6~3x3 cards using the leftover pieces from the random stamped paper I used on the basket. Hmmm....random stamping? That should be a challenge, too!

Anyway, here are the supplies I used (All Close To My Heart):
D1284 With Love stamp set
Z2118 Desert Sand ink
Z2155 Topiary ink
Z2136 Ocean ink
1273 Desert Sand cardstock
X5636 Ocean cardstock
1388 Colonial White cardstock
Z1217 Antiqued Copper brads
Z2318 Desert Sand marker
Cocoa ribbon

Now hop on over to the Heart 2 Heart blog and check out the rest of the design team's creations. Don't forget to enter your own artwork so we can see what you've come up with using these 3 colors.

Have a great day!

Unscripted Sketches #55~CherryO~You're Sweet

Here is my artwork for this week's Unscripted Sketches challenge. There is actually a double challenge this week. Not only are you supposed to create something using the sketch but you are also supposed to use 'chocolate' in some way, shape or form in/on your creation. Chocolate? Did someone say chocolate? Well, chocolate is my favorite so I had to do this challenge! I used Chocolate cardstock and ink from Close To My Heart along with chocolate ribbon, too! And I used a chocolate marker to do the faux stitching which happens to be one of my favorite techniques because it has got to be the easiest one to do that makes a card or scrapbook layout extra special. If you look closely at my card, you will see I also used another 'faux' technique called 'Faux Linen'. I discovered this technique (sorry, can't remember who it was from but I will figure that out) during this week's Heart2Heart Challenge as it was technique week and if you didn't check it out, you should! Not to mention that yours truly is a member of the design team...wink, wink!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a good one!

Close To My Heart~ Passages~Family Reunion Layout

I so had to share this layout with you! I am getting excited for our family reunion scheduled for this August..the first one in I don't know HOW many years and this is a layout I created for it. You KNOW I'm going to get lots of photos from this reunion so I'm getting a jumpstart on the layouts.

I just realized there's no stamping on this layout! WHAT? I must be nuts! I love to stamp! Oh, the reason there's no stamping is I don't actually have the prefect stamp set for this, at least I couldn't think of one that I might have that would work. I'm open for suggestions!

Supplies used:
Passages paper pack
Hemp
Antique Copper bitty brads
Colonial White designer brads

Hope you like the layout! Have a great day!

Unscripted Sketches #54~Celebrate

I decided to create a card for this week's Unscripted Sketches challenge using the new Zippidee paper pack from Close To My Heart. I haven't posted any US artwork for the past couple weeks but was feeling quite creative this morning so here's what I came up with. I did some paper piecing on this card. I love that technique!

I also used the Forever in Love stamp set. I just think it is too cute and can see myself getting a lot of use out of it!

Off I go to get ready to pick up hubby's truck from the shop. Some young, inexperienced driver clipped his bumper a couple weeks ago so it needed to be repaired. Thanks for stopping by today! Happy Scrappin'!

Heart2HeartChallenges #6~H2H6~Technique

This week's Heart 2 Heart Challenge was to pick a favorite technique and share it. Well, I used the 'shaving cream technique' and although this is the first time I have tried this particular technique, I did have fun with it and it is now a favorite of mine. It brought back memories of when I used to play with my dad's shaving cream when I was a kid without getting caught wasting it. Although it's a messy technique, it was fun and I will definitely use it again.
Here's the details on this technique so you can try it, too.
You will need:
Shaving Cream (cheap works)
Reinkers (usually 3 colors works best)
Foam plate, or other kind of shallow container large enough for the size of cardstock you will be using
Cardstock (regular or textured)
Something to swirl the reinkers around in the shaving cream...such as a popsicle stick, plastic fork, and hair picks work good!
Something to scrape off the shaving cream from the cardstock...perhaps a ruler, piece of cardboard or other straight edge item.
Be prepared to get messy!
Directions:
Spray shaving cream on your shallow container or foam plate and spread it as smoothly as possible. Be sure it is larger than the piece of cardstock you are working with. (Don't overdo it! The first time I tried this, I had WAY too much shaving cream and wasted a lot).
Add several drops of reinker colors over the shaving cream.
Swirl the reinker over the surface of the cream.
Press cardstock into the shaving cream then peel it back and carefully scrape the shaving cream from the cardstock and discard or put it back into the container. Set cardstock aside and reuse the shaving cream for another piece of cardstock or discard it. You can add more reinker if needed to achieve other cool results.
Here's a close-up of the Glitz Glitter Glue I applied to the centers of the flowers, just to add a bit of bling.
All Close To My Heart supplies used to complete this card:
  • 1284 Indian Corn Blue cardstock
  • 1243 Goldrush cardstock
  • 1388 Colonial White cardstock
  • Z2130 Indian Corn Blue ink
  • Z2123 Goldrush ink
  • Z2230 Indian Corn Blue reinker
  • Z2201 Autumn Terracotta reinker
  • Z2237 Olive reinker
  • A1104 A Tweet stamp set
  • Z1099 Twill ribbon
  • Z280 Natural Hemp
  • Z1313 Glitz Stardust Glitter Glue
  • Z1297 Edge Distresser

Heart2HeartChallenges #5~H2H5~Happy Mother's Day!

Hello, hello! Week #5 for the Heart2Heart challenges. Can you believe it's been 5 weeks since this challenge was started? Where does the time go? Anyway, the challenge for this week is to make a Mother's Day card and that was an easy challenge since it is almost Mother's Day and I needed to make a card for my mom. (Mom, don't look at this post until after Mother's Day, please!)

I had fun with this card as it uses the new Splendor papers from Close To My Heart and they are quickly becoming a favorite of mine already. Actually, I like ALL the new papers in the newest idea book/catalog. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, give me a shout!

I also used the watercolor technique on this card. I stamped the flower image with Cocoa ink and let it dry real well. Then I dipped my waterbrush into little pools of ink that I created by pressing down on the inkpad lid while it was closed. Then you open it up and voila, you can paint! Try it sometime!

Supplies used are all Close To My Heart, as always!
  • X7124B Splendor paper pack
  • D1409 Flower Pot (April 2010 SOTM)
  • D1408 A Little Everything (March 2010 SOTM)
  • Z2123 Goldrush ink
  • Z2155 Topiary ink
  • Z2114 Cocoa ink
  • 1771 Waterbrush
  • Z1126 Colonial White Ribbon Collection
  • Z1219 Cocoa brads
  • Z1151 3-D Foam Tape

Okay, now it's your turn to do this challenge. Get creating and when you're done, be sure to go here and leave a link to your creation so the Heart2Heart DT can check it out. And while you're there, be sure to check out the awesome artwork created by all the Design Team members.

This week's prize sponsor is Adeline Brill. To see what she is giving away to one lucky winner this week, click here to go to her blog.

Have a great day!
