Pay it Forward!!!

Paying it forward is always nice, right? Well, I have never had an opportunity to participate in something like this so I decided, why not? Receiving a gift from someone I don't know AND not knowing when I will receive it will be totally awesome! I was one of the first people to respond on Scrapping Wonders blog about paying it forward so I will be looking forward to receiving a gift from her within the year. :) I am almost copying her post about this word for word so I don't forget anything important.
I will send a surprise gift to the first 3 people to comment on this post.  This gift will be made by me and I will send it sometime within the next year. Exactly when you will receive it will be a surprise!
Of course there are some rules in this game and here they are:
1.  I will make a little something for the first 3 people who comment on this post.  It will be a surprise and may arrive at any time in the next 365 days (yes, a year).
2.  To sign up to receive a gift from me you must play along, too.  Share the giving love on your blog by promising to send a handmade goodie to the first 3 people who comment on your blog post.
3.  You MUST have a blog.
4.  After commenting on my post, you have to post this (or similar) on your blog to spread the love.  If you haven’t posted in 48 hours then the next commenter will be chosen.
If you want to join in just comment below and if you’re one of the first 3 I’ll send you something before the end of August next year!
Can’t wait to hear from you!

Have I mentioned lately.....

......how much I LOVE the new Dakota paper pack from Close To My Heart? No? Wait, I think I have but that's okay because I have yet another layout to share with you. I think you'll like it but YOU let me know by leaving a comment for me and if I receive at least 10 comments, I will randomly pick a name to receive a little something from me! Now on to the layout......

wanting to use up some shapes (swirls) cut with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge awhile ago, I really wasn't sure how they would look with these papers but I really like the effect. What do you think?

I recently bought more of the metal hinges, which I really love, so I wanted to use some of them on this layout as well. I think they worked perfectly with the birdboxes, don't you?

I also had a ton of clear buttons that I hadn't used in awhile and thought they would work great here, too.

I think I may have gone a little brad-crazy but I like how they look adorning the space around the swirls.  And the little scraps of burlap ribbon (love that ribbon!) added a nice finishing touch. Would you agree?

Here's a close-up shot of the smaller photo so you could see that I attached one of the new small Flip Flaps to the page and used the photo hinge to hold it in place. Flip Flaps are a GREAT way to get more photos on your layout - sometimes you have a ton of photos of a subject or special event and you aren't sure which ones to scrap or you want to scrap them ALL - Flip Flaps are great for that! ;-)

The next photo shows the flap open to reveal the journaling box underneath as well as another photo. I still have to write the journaling yet. That is the hardest part for me so I always save it for last.

Supplies used are all CTMH unless noted:

  • X7157B - Dakota paper pack
  • D1412 - Noted Backgrounds stamp set (n/a)
  • C1304 - Sans Alphabet stamp set (n/a)

  • Z1701 - Baker's Twine

  • Z282 - Black Hemp
  • Z1391 - Clear Buttons

Sorry there were 3 products no longer available but if you wanted to 'lift' this layout for yourself, you can certainly use other items in your own stash.

I hope you like the layout! Okay, now it's time to leave me a comment and be nice, please! ;-)

Happy scrampin'!

***NEW*** Kit of the Month Club

Hey Scrapbook Enthusiasts!
Beginning in September, I will be forming a new club I am calling the ‘Kit of the Month’ Club and would LOVE for you to join in! It will be a great opportunity for you to get that scrappin’ done. You’ve probably been too busy to get much scrappin' time in since the kiddos have been out of school for the summer, right? Well, they will be back to school soon and then it’s more time for yourself! Yea! Read below for all the juicy details about my new club and let me know if this is something that can work for YOU!

On the first day of each month, I will post a new featured Workshop on the Go kit – September’s kit will be Scholastic – how appropriate for back-to-school time, right? Then you will go to my website - ScrampingwithCarol and place your order through the Kit of the Month gathering link that you will see. Each monthly kit will cost $29.95 plus shipping & tax and will be shipped RIGHT TO YOUR DOOR! How cool is that? If you do not like the featured monthly kit, there are 7 other scrapbooking kits that may work better for you so feel free to choose a different kit.

Each kit comes with:
·        1 – My Reflections Paper Packet
·        1 – My Acrylix Workshop Stamp Set (C-size)
·        2 – Neutral Cardstock Sheets
·        2 – Packs of Coordinating Embellishments ($2.25 - $5.95 value)
·        1 – Instructional Brochure

I will also list other products you will need to complete the pages as shown (you can always substitute if you wish) as well as many other products that coordinate nicely with the featured paper pack.

I hope you will give this new club a try. As an extra incentive to try it out, if you have a group of friends - at least 4 others + yourself - who may be interested in this club, you could qualify for FREE products. Contact me for more details! Be watching for the Scholastic Kit of the Month Club details soon!

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
Happy scrampin’!!

I am LOVING Dakota by Close To My Heart!

Here’s another beautiful layout I created with the new Dakota paper pack from Close To My Heart. Can you believe this is the fifth double page layout I have created with the same paper pack plus adding a few extra sheets of cardstock and one more patterned paper from a second pack? I also made 2 single page layouts and one card. Amazing, isn’t it? That is why I LOVE the paper packs from Close To My Heart!

I am offering Dakota for my monthly scrapbook class in September but if you can’t attend on the scheduled dates of the 24th, 25th or 26th, feel free to go to my website at ScrampingwithCarol.ctmh.com to order this fabulous paper pack and have it delivered right to your door. We will not be creating this particular layout during the class - below are photos of the 2 we will be creating - but if you wish to create it at home, I will provide the cutting diagram for you when you purchase the paper pack.

I am also offering a NEW class called "Make It From Your Heart" featuring the new "Make It From Your Heart" design booklet scheduled for September 17, 18 & 19. Click on the link for all the details and be sure to RSVP by September 3 with your payment of $25.

Please bear with me!

I am trying out some new blog designs so bear with me as I find just the right one! I'm getting bored with the orange and need a change! It may take me another day or two but I'll find one that I really like and I hope you will, too! I appreciate your patience!

From This to This - the Close To My Heart Way!

Here’s a layout I created today using the new
Scholastic papers from Close To My Heart and a couple scraps left over from an old paper pack called Cherry-O, which is no longer available. Sorry! ;-(

Other supplies used are:
·         D1478 Bingo Alphabet
·         D1364 Recipe Box (n/a)
·         S1109 Limited Edition (n/a)
·         CC1020 It’s Your Day (available Aug 15 - Sept 30 - ask me about it!)
·         Z2105 Black ink
·         Z2118 Desert Sand ink
·         Z2114 Cocoa ink
·         Z2170 Ruby ink
·         Z1760 Burlap Ribbon
·         Z1766 Memo Assortment
·         Z1706 Round Durables
·         Z282 Black Hemp

I started with a sketch from a class I’m taking at Big Picture Classes called 28 Days of Sketches – Round 2 hosted by Lisa Day. This is the same class I took a few months back and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to join in again. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to keep up with the class this time around for some silly reason but I do try to get a sketch done when I can fit it in.

As soon as I saw the sketch first thing this morning, I got started on it right away because I knew I had the perfect photos for it! I had just made my delicious pasta sauce yesterday so the details were fresh in my mind. I needed to get it scrapped before time got away from me and I love how it turned out. Hope you do, too!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy scrampin'!

Through My Brown Eyes 365 Challenge

This is my second blog I started last September as a challenge to myself to take and post a photo each day for a year. I am only a little over a month away from completing this endeavor, having missed just a few days due to either my forgetful mind or circumstances beyond my control, and I am happy with how it has worked out for me.

I'm thinking I need to continue posting something each day but not sure what yet. Can you help me out? Give me some ideas of what I should challenge myself to do for the next 365 days! If I decide to choose your suggestion, I just may have a little giftie for you! So put your thinking caps on then give me a shout (along with your contact info) when you think you have a great challenge idea for me! I can't wait to hear your suggestions!

Have a great day and......
                                                 happy scrampin'!
