Egg-cited for Easter?

Not really - since I have no little peeps around to share the excitement with, Easter won't be very exciting for me. But I will be mailing out these cute Easter cards to my little peeps to enjoy! If you are egg-cited for Easter though, feel free to join in this week's Heart2Heart challenge and share your artwork with us.

I created the egg-shaped cards with White Daisy cardstock using the Z1686 Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. The egg image is on page 57 and the size dial was set to 5 1/2".

For the left card, I used a piece of pattern paper from the X7163B Chantilly paper packet also cut at 5 1/2" then used a few strips of leftover paper and made them wavy the old-fashioned way - with just a pair of regular scissors. The bunny's head was made with a 2" scallop punch and his ears were cut at 1" - inside of ears cut at 3/4" of pattern paper - using the scalloped oval image on page 52 of Art Philosophy. His nose is a heart shape found on page 26 cut at 1/2" out of one of the papers from Chantilly. His eyes are Outdoor Denim brads. I then stamped the words with Outdoor Denim ink on strips of White Daisy cardstock and attached them with brads. Two more 1/4" hearts were cut to place on the word strips.

For the right card, I used another piece of pattern paper from Chantilly, cut again at 5 1/2". I cut the decorative layer with Buttercup cardstock but before attaching it to the paper, I cut out a little basket and bunny - isn't he cute? - with the Stretch Your Imagination Cricut cartridge - and placed him just under part of the decorative layer using a piece of 3D foam tape. The circle and flower images were stamped with the C1553 Chantilly Scrapbooking workshop stamp set using Buttercup, Twilight, Sweet Leaf and Cotton Candy inks. The words - Happy Easter - were stamped using an older stamp set no longer available. Two Mocha Opaque gems were used for the bunny's eyes and his nose was punched from the center of another stamped flower.

Ok, it's your turn to be egg-cited so start creating! Then head on over to the Heart2Heart blog to share your artwork!

Thanks for stopping by! Happy scrampin'!

We 'Mustache' You

This week's Heart2Heart challenge is all about the mustache craze that I just totally do not get. What is it about mustaches anyway? I think it's a silly concept but for some reason others are into it. That being said, I really struggled at first to come up with some kind of artwork using a mustache or something along those lines but eventually this is what I created.

I originally had used a different sentiment - Hooray for You - but once I saw how silly this card looked, I changed it to - Cheer Up - appropriate, isn't it? If it makes you laugh when you look at it,  then Cheer Up is perfect!

I created this second card for my dad whose birthday is coming up and who actually HAS a mustache so I thought it would be perfect for him. Both cards were made with the Later Sk8r paper pack from Close To My Heart. The featured colors of Pear, Outdoor Denim and Lagoon work really well for male cards.

If you'd like to participate in this week's challenge, hop on over to the Heart2Heart blog, read the list of guidelines then start creating. When you have your artwork completed, go back to the blog and post a link to your creation so we can check it out. You also have the chance to be a winner in the March Madness event so be sure to read all about that as well.

Happy scrampin'!

You Scatter Sunshine

Just wanted to share my latest layout of my youngest granddaughter. I received the sketch for this layout in an email from Big Picture Classes and wanted to recreate it right away before I forgot about it. The sketch was created by Lisa Day of BPC. I have taken a couple of her classes in the past and totally loved them! It's a great way to get motivated and inspired to get your scrapbooking done.

I used the X7163B Chantilly paper pack from Close To My Heart along with the X7163C Chantilly Chipboard Complements. The little Z1844 Trinkets Wooden Shapes and Z1807 Pink Glitter Gems add just the right touch! I also used the cloud image from the G1053 Chantilly workshop kit stamp set to create the border design across both the top and bottom of the background. Love how this turned out! Hope you do, too!

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy scrampin'!

H2H March Madness Goes Green

This week's challenge over at the Heart 2 Heart blog is all about 'going green'. You can interpret this any way you want - use the color green, reuse, recycle or repurpose something in your artwork or since St. Patty's Day is coming up, your creation could be related to that. The important thing is - just have fun but be sure to follow the guidelines!

This month H2H is also hosting 'March Madness' - a fun event where YOU can be a winner! Click here for more details and all the rules! While you are there, be sure to check out all the beautiful artwork created by the Design Team.

Now on to my 'Green' creation...and you can possibly win this card when you leave me some love at the end of this post. Yep, I am giving this card away to one randomly chosen person who leaves a comment on this post. How cool is that?

The color green has never been a huge favorite of mine so I struggled a bit on this but totally love how it turned out! I used paper from the new Later Sk8r paper pack which I am really starting to like. Later Sk8r has a totally rad young man type of theme and since I don't have any young men in my life to scrapbook, I really didn't expect to like it. It totally surprised me that I do!! It is actually perfect for ANY person in your life, male or female!

Supplies used are all Close To My Heart unless noted:
X7167B Later Sk8r paper pack
Z1375 Kraft cardstock (card base)
D1546 Frame Flair stamp set
S1212 Year Round Cheer stamp set (Dec 2012 SOTM - n/a)
Z1760 Burlap Ribbon
Z1751 Harvest Baker's Twine
Z1151 3D Foam Tape
Z2197 Pear ink
Z2140 Outdoor Denim ink
Z2118 Desert Sand ink
Z2313 Clover Meadow Marker (n/a)

Don't forget! I am giving this card away to someone who leaves a comment on this post so be sure to comment! Thanks for stopping by today!

Close To My Heart Claire Scrapbook Layout

I am so loving the Claire paper pack from Close To My Heart. It may be because Claire is a mostly female-oriented paper pack and I have several granddaughters who are the subject of most of my scrapbook layouts but I think it's just because I really love all the featured colors - Cranberry, Outdoor Denim, Sunset, Hollyhock, Blush and Cashmere. These colors work so well together!

This layout was so much fun to make! Did I overdo it though with the hot air balloons? I hope not because I really like how they look with the clouds and the little stars and birds. I just love everything about this layout especially the photos of those cute little girlies!

I made another layout today with the Later Sk8r paper pack and hope to share it with you tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by today!

First March Heart2Heart Challenge

Yea! It's finally March! I am so happy that it's almost Spring time! I can't wait to see the crocuses and daffodils peeking out of the ground getting ready to bloom. I am getting so excited because soon I will be able to start some veggie seeds. There is nothing as yummy as eating your own homegrown veggies. If you grow your own, you know what I'm talking about.

This week's Heart2Heart challenge is all about 'Springing Forward' so anything pertaining to spring, the sun, time change or however you interpret it will work fine for this challenge. Since I will be planting veggie seeds soon, I chose to create a one page layout featuring the seed packets. I took close-up photos of all the seed packets, printed them out at wallet-size then trimmed them down for this layout.

The background is an 11 3/4" x 11 3/4" sheet of pattern paper from the X7157B Dakota paper pack mounted on a 12" x 12" piece of White Daisy cardstock. I cut the sun from the Graphically Speaking Cricut cartridge, stamped the short spokes of it with an image from the C1549 Buzz & Bumble scrapbook workshop kit stamp set and popped the ends up with Z1151 3D Foam Tape. I arranged the photos on top of the longer spokes of the sun then tucked 4 more photos into the center part of the sun.

I then stamped the Seeds image on White Daisy cardstock, colored it in with Z2150 Sunflower and Z2123 Goldrush inks using a blending pen then mounted it next to the number 4 in the center. The number 4 and the word 'planting' were cut with the Z1790 Cricut Artiste cartridge. The words 'almost time' were stamped in black ink using the B1416 Keyboard Uppercase Alphabet stamp set.

To make the chicken wire around the edges of the background, using black ink I stamped the chicken wire image from the D1544 Distressed Backgrounds in various areas. I LOVE that set! I stamped a few journaling lines in various places as well as the words 'Garden of Delight' in black ink, too.

What's a garden without bees, right? Well, they may be hard to see in the photo but there are two bees in the upper right corner and one next to the number 4. Also, adding a few pieces of Z1817 Washi Tape along the edges of the layout helped to finish it off nicely!!

Okay, now it's YOUR turn to create something for this challenge. Be sure to use mostly CTMH products on your creation, then go to the blog and link it up so we can check it out. Be sure to give us the direct link to your actual artwork, not to your blog. If you do not have a blog, perhaps you could email me a photo of your artwork and I can post it for you? Just a thought!

While you are on the Heart2Heart blog, check out all the really beautiful artwork created by Design Team A this week and read all about how you can be a winner during our March Madness event. Some of the team members will also be giving away prizes so be sure to read and follow all the rules for your chance to win!

Two New Layouts to Share

Happy March everyone! I am so excited that the month of March has finally arrived, aren't you? That means it's getting really close to SPRING time! Yea! Well, since it is still a bit chilly outside, I have chosen to stay inside and play in my craft room today. I am so glad I did because I have a couple really nice layouts - at least I think they are nice - to share with you. I hope you like them, too!

This first one was made with the X7155B Avonlea paper pack which is still available from Close to my Heart. Since I had a TON of photos from this trip to Annapolis last October, I decided rather than printing each and every one, I created two collages with the photos I liked the best - one vertical, one horizontal - printed them out and mounted them on a piece of Slate cardstock.

I then decided to print out a few more photos 3.5" x 5" to tuck down inside the collage print on the left-hand page. If you look closely, you can see a few of them peeking out the top. Pretty clever way to add more photos to a page, huh? Sticking out the top of the right-hand page is a journaling tag since there really wasn't another good spot for the journaling.

I used the Z1790 Artiste Cricut cartridge for the title letters and the B1416 Keyboard Uppercase Alphabet set for the subtitle. An old stamp set - Cherish the Day - was used for the date on the left-hand page. I stamped it in Z2111 Chocolate ink. I then added a few Z1816 Durables Artisan Studs here & there and a few strips of Z1817 Washi Tape and called it done!

And now for my second project of the day....another layout of one of my granddaughters. Gee, really? Again? I hope you don't get tired of seeing all my granddaughters - after all, I have 4 of them along with 1 step-granddaughter and I love to scrapbook them when I have photos of them. I don't get to see them since they all live too far away so when I do get photos of them sent to me, I have tons of fun! Anyway, here's the next layout of my youngest granddaughter, Aveney, who will be turning 2 in just 3 days!

I had so much fun creating this layout because every time I looked at that cute little face, I just had to smile. She is just one stinkin' cute, precious little girlie! I wish I could hug her and squeeze her right now. I miss her so much! Well, enough sappiness (is that a word?) now - let's move onto the details.

I was just kind of winging it on this layout but it is loosely based on a layout by Lisa Day from Big Picture Classes. I have listed all the supplies used below. I didn't provide links to all the products but if you click here, it will take you to my website where you can enter in the item numbers for more details and photos.

The title comes from the story behind the photo - figuratively and literally - as there is journaling hidden under the middle photo, which you can see in the second photo below. I haven't done the actual journaling yet but will after posting this. In order for the journaling to be hidden, I attached a 4 inch Z1747 Memory Protector Flip Flap to the page. Don't you just love those Flip Flaps? If you aren't familiar with them, check them out here. If you need more info or ideas on how to use these wonderful things, please contact me!

Anyway, here's the story......Aveney's mommy told her to smile nicely so she could send the photo to Grandma and she proceeded to put her hands on her knees and bend down slightly before smiling her gorgeous smile! Therefore, this smile is just for me!!! It really made my day when I saw these photos and heard the story behind them. See how important it is to know the story? These photos wouldn't have the same impact without that story! That's what scrapbooking is all about!
