Tucking It In!

This week's Heart2Heart challenge is asking you to 'Tuck It In', which means - use an envelope or some sort of tuck on your creation. Personally, I love using envelopes in my artwork because there's so much you can do with them. The possibilities are endless! I use them quite often to make mini albums - they are perfect for them - as a pocket has already been created for you. Can't get much easier than that!

I started with a Z1375 12" x 12" Kraft cardstock base then added some papers from the X7169B Tommy paper pack for this layout. The two envelopes are Z1721 3" x 3" Kraft envelopes and worked perfectly for this layout. I added some stamping with Z2140 Outdoor Denim ink using an arrow image from the C1534 Sightseer stamp set and the stitching lines were created with an older stamp set. The title was cut with the Z1790 Artiste Cricut cartridge font.

To finish it off, I added a few embellishments from the Z1824 Tommy Assortment pack, White Daisy and Cranberry brads, Z1808 Chevron ribbon and some Z1751 Harvest Baker's Twine. I then decided to 'tuck' in a small journaling tag behind the envelope on the left. The words on the front of each envelope are from one of the zip strips trimmed off a piece of one of the pattern papers.

The colors of the Tommy papers were just perfect for this layout of my hubby and I on one of our visits to Annapolis, Maryland. Such a beautiful town! We always enjoy our time there and I hope you have enjoyed my layout today!

If you'd like to participate in this week's Heart2Heart challenge, create something using an envelope or some kind of tuck then link up to your creation on the blog. Be sure to read and follow the rules before sharing your post link.

Happy scrampin'!

If I'd known you were coming.....

.....I'd have baked a cake! An old saying, huh? One I used to hear from the mouths of my parents and grandparents many years ago and occasionally still from my dad. ;-)

This week's challenge at Heart2Heart is all about cakes - in any way, shape or form. Create something cake-related then hop on over to the Heart2Heart blog and leave a link to your creation. Be sure to use mainly Close To My Heart products in your project or you can't take part in the challenge. ;-(  Them's the rules, sorry!

Anyway, here is a card I had made for the daughter of a friend who recently got married. Even though it's from a few weeks ago, I decided to enter it in the challenge because it's perfect for it, don't you think? Well, except for the fact that I forgot to put baker's twine on it! AGH! I am so silly! This week's challenge also has a twist of baker's twine as part of the challenge and I didn't put any on this card. So just imagine that the white ribbon is white baker's twine instead, okay? Thanks! ;-)

I hope you enjoy my card! Now it's your turn to 'take the cake' - don't forget the baker's twine - and share on the Heart2Heart blog.

Happy scrampin'!

Button, Button, Who's Got the Button?

I do, I do! Well, I have a few buttons that I attached to a single page layout - does that count? I created this single page layout for the Heart2Heart challenge blog using a Page Maps sketch challenge I found at The Memory Nest blog and the Clementine paper pack from Close To My Heart. I love when layouts are simple enough to finish in such a short time yet turn out really nice! This was no exception!

If you would like to participate in this week's Heart2Heart challenge, just create something, anything, using buttons and share it with us! We'd love to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by! Happy scrampin'!

Let's Be Pun-ny!

We're being pun-ny over at the Heart2Heart blog this week. Well, it is April Fool's Day today, right? I've never really been very good when it comes to jokes and puns or anything like them because I never seem to remember the punchline or deliver it the way it should be in order to be funny so the best way for me to be pun-ny was to use a stamp set called Puns of Praise.

How cute are these images, huh? They are great for cardmaking as you can see by the cards I created with the set. I wear eyeglasses so it was just natural for me to create something with that image and I am also a seamstress - I LOVE to sew - sew(so) of course, creating a card with the sewing machine image was a no-brainer! That camera image is calling my name since I absolutely LOVE to take pictures so I will be using that soon on a project!

I used some of the papers from the Dakota paper pack along with Black, Barn Red, Slate and White Daisy cardstocks on the first card. Random stamping is one of my favorite techniques so I decided to stamp a bunch of the glasses image randomly on the background and love how it looks.

I then used the back side of the eyeglasses image inked with Slate ink then second generation-stamped onto the small piece of White Daisy cardstock. I turned the image over and stamped it on top in Black ink. I had a piece of the Tulle Ribbon sitting on my work table at the time I was making this card and decided to use it - well, just to use it! I added a metal swirl, some baker's twine and a couple brads on the strip then attached it to the card with 3D foam tape to finish it off!

Here's the second card I created for this challenge using the sewing machine image. I stamped the striped background with Buttercup ink on a White Daisy card base and built my card from there. I got the idea for this card from one that was posted somewhere on the internet but I know it wasn't Pinterest-inspired this time - although I do find so much inspiration there, it's amazing!

Supplies used on both cards are all Close To My Heart unless noted.

First card:
  • X7157B Dakota paper pack
  • C1535 Puns of Praise stamp set
  • Z1701 Baker's Twine
  • Z1798 Tulle Ribbon

  • Z2105 Black ink
  • Z1151 3D Foam Tape
