It's Time to Nip & Tuck

This week's Heart2Heart challenge is all about stitching - real or faux - your choice. I chose to use real stitching on my layout, which I absolutely love and need to use more often in my creations. Most of the time I would use faux stitching because I would be so afraid I'd mess up my page with real stitches and the paper(s) would be wasted. BUT now that I know it's really quite easy to do, I will stitch for real more often.

I used stitching to create the ruffle under the B&W photo, to make the flower at the top left of the B&W photo, a decorative flower stitch along the left side of the black cardstock and a straight stitch on the other 3 sides. LOVE how the stitching really makes this layout even more beautiful!

Supplies used are all Close To My Heart unless noted:

  • X7166B Claire paper pack
  • 1385 White Daisy cardstock
  • 1386 Black cardstock
  • Z1829 Glitter Paper
  • Z1790 Cricut Artiste cartridge (letters)
  • Z1820 For Always Textiles
  • Z1813 Claire Assortment
  • Z1826 Zipper Lace
  • Z1812 Sparkles Flourishes
  • Z1799 Silver Trim
  • Z1821 Black Buttons
  • Z1701 Neutral Baker's Twine
  • 'Daughter' from Me & My Big Ideas
  • 'love that lasts forever' and 'Mother's Day' are from retired stamp sets
  • White sewing thread from Coats & Clark
Okay, now it's your turn to use some stitching - real or faux - in your artwork then share it with us at Heart2Heart. Be sure to use mostly Close To My Heart products in your artwork or we will delete your link. Sorry, those are the rules! And while you're visiting, please take time to check out the beautiful artwork created by Design Team A.

Happy scrampin'!

Project Life the Close To My Heart Way

I have been admiring all the awesome scrapbook layouts created by those who are into the Project Life way of scrapping for so long and wanted to try it using Close To My Heart products. Makes sense since I am a CTMH consultant, right?

Well, I finally started my own Project Life album back at the beginning of the year and I am happy to say that I have been keeping up with it pretty good. I think I have only missed a couple weeks but that's the beauty of Project Life - you can do it as often as you want to - you don't need to create a layout each week. It's okay to skip weeks if you don't have any photos to scrap or just need to take a break. It's okay to do it whatever way you want - no set rules at all except to have fun making and recording your daily/weekly/monthly memories. Since I have been very pleased so far with my Project Life endeavor, I thought I would share a couple of my layouts with you.
Cover page of my Project Life album - made with Pear & Partridge papers from CTMH
FYI - I have since changed the address of my blog to ScrampingwithCarol.blogspot.com
Project Life Week 1 - made with the Wonderland papers from CTMH
Project Life Week 19 the Studio J way
I am not very good at creating my own how-to videos or tutorials but if you would like some kind of idea of how I created this digital Project Life layout in Studio J, Close To My Heart created an awesome You Tube video for you. Check it out and let me know what you think. If you'd like to give Studio J a try, go here then click on the Studio J link to start playing! You will need to create an account but it's FREE to play! If you have any questions, just give me a shout!

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy scrampin'!

Broad Street Run Layout with Dakota

Love this layout of my daughter, her boyfriend and a friend who all ran the 10 mile Broad Street Run in Philly recently. I still need to add the journaling and their names yet and possibly some other embellishments maybe but I totally love how this layout turned out. I had actually made the layout several months ago when the Dakota paper pack was brand new and I am so happy I was finally able to add the perfect photos to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a good one!

National Scrapbooking Day Update

Well, as much as I was really looking forward to creating all kinds of awesome artwork on NSD, it didn't happen.   ;-(  In between loads of laundry and hanging them outside, I ended up going to buy some flowers (hubby practically begged me to go) then spent the afternoon planting them. Well, it WAS a gorgeous day and very hard to stay indoors. So the only artwork I did get done was the layout shown below.

Here are the 4 photos I chose to work with. I had an idea of how I wanted to present them on a layout after just a few minutes of looking at them.

One of the challenges thrown out by the BPC Creative Crop which I was kind of following online Saturday was to use a pocket page panel on a layout. Well, I didn't quite do it the way the sample showed but I did use a 4" x 6" Flip Flap from Close To My Heart over the center photo, which is basically the same idea, just smaller.

All the supplies used are from Close To My Heart except when noted. I used the Chantilly paper pack and Complements (bird), the circles and title were created with the Artiste Cricut cartridge and the Keyboard Alphabet stamp set. The 2 chipboard buttons tied with white baker's twine are from an old embellishment pack. It's hard to see but inside the letter 'O' there is a clear acrylic heart (another old embellishment) attached with a white brad.

Here is the Flip Flap opened up for you to see where the journaling will go when I figure out what to write. Telling the story about the photos is the MOST important part of a layout so I want to get it right before putting it down.

Now off to print a couple photos from National Scrapbooking Day so I can add them to my previous special layout I created in celebration of the day.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by! Happy scrampin'!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Hello, hello!

I took a break from housecleaning yesterday to check my emails and I am quite thankful I did. The housework can wait! I was so inspired by a newsletter I received from Creating Keepsakes that I immediately knew I wanted to create a layout in celebration of National Scrapbooking Day.

I LOVE how this layout turned out and it came together fairly quickly which is the BEST part. I plan to take a couple photos of myself while I am creating in my scrap room today (I will use the timer on the camera - it's the only way I get photos of myself!) as I celebrate National Scrapbooking Day. Then I will add them to my layout.

I created my layout with the special paper packet called Dream Pop that Close To My Heart is offering for this month only in celebration of National Scrapbooking Month. If you'd like to order this fabulous paper packet for yourself, go here to place your order of at least $35 to qualify to receive the paper packet for just $10 or contact me to learn how you can receive it for FREE!

When you place your order, be sure to click on the JOIN button next to the Dream Popping gathering and you will be entered into a drawing to receive at least $25 in FREE select products from ME! This is not being offered by CTMH - it is from me. As soon as I see you have placed your order, I will enter your name into the drawing.

Here is another version of my layout because I just couldn't leave well enough alone! But that's the way I roll and I can't help myself! Ha ha! I think I like the second version just a tad bit better than the first. Your opinion? I kept thinking the first one was missing something besides a photo or two so I added a couple stamped images and some buttons & gems but I hope I didn't overdo it. Even without any photos on the layout, it would still make a nice page in my album the way it is.

I hope you have enjoyed my layout today and that it has inspired YOU to get creating in celebration of National Scrapbooking Day! If you create something today, please share! I'd love to see your artwork.

Happy scrampin'!
