Ombre, Ombre

Hey everyone, this week's challenge at Heart2Heart is to use the 'ombre' technique on a project. I know there's supposed to be an accent mark above the 'e' in ombre but I have absolutely NO clue how to put one there. If you know, please share!

And I really wasn't too sure if this card depicted the 'ombre' technique very well but was assured that it did, so here is what I created. I'm sorry the photo isn't better to show off the color more but I kept forgetting to take another photo in daylight. ;-(

Using the canvas image from the Distressed Backgrounds (D1544) stamp set, I stamped it 3 times with Sunflower (Z2150), Goldrush (Z2123) and Autumn Terracotta (Z2101) inks on a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Colonial White cardstock. Mounted it on a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of  Cocoa (X5642) cardstock then mounted it to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Goldrush (1243) cardstock base.

I cut an oval shape from Colonial White (1388) cardstock and another scalloped edge oval shape from Cocoa cardstock using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge (Z1686). I again used the canvas image from the Distressed Backgrounds stamp set inked with Cocoa (Z2114) to stamp on the Colonial White oval. I stamped the peaches image from the July stamp of the month set - Sweet Life - in Cocoa pigment ink (Z2503) then colored it in using a cotton swab. I attached a ribbon to the background then added 3 copper brads and an itty bitty sparkle to the oval shape before popping it up with 3D foam tape (Z1151). Sentiment was stamped with Cocoa ink.

I hope you've enjoyed my 'ombre' card today. Now it's your turn to try this technique and share your creation with us at Heart2Heart. Be sure to use mainly CTMH products in your artwork or your link will be removed. Sorry! ;-(

Memory Keeping Matters

Almost 7 years ago, I discovered a wonderful scrapbooking/stamping company called Close To My Heart, signed on as a consultant and have never looked back. It has been the most rewarding 7 years of my life besides my family, of course.

I have met so many wonderful, fun, caring, generous and very talented sisters in this industry that I never would have met otherwise. Most I have met through the internet i.e., company bulletin boards, Facebook groups, design team forums and chat rooms - but some I met personally when I attended the annual Convention in Washington, D.C. 4 years ago. It was nice to be able to put faces to the names I had seen for so long. That convention was the most excitement I had ever experienced as a consultant. Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend any since then. Someday I will!

Not only have I met all these wonderful consultants but I have also made many new friends through people who have found me through my website or have been introduced to me by my own friends. My life would be quite boring had I never met all these special people. Thank you for coming into my life!

Give a listen to this video shared by our corporate office recently then contact me if you'd like to join this great company and my 'Scrampers with Heart' team. If becoming a consultant and earning extra income while being crafty (or even just receiving a discount on crafting products to support your addiction to this wonderful hobby - heehee), isn't for you but you'd still like to get your hands on some fabulous products, feel free to place an order through my website or contact me to place your order.

Close To My Heart offers something for everyone creative and even for those who THINK they aren't because everyone is creative in their own way! Close To My Heart gives you the tools you need to bring out that creativity and have tons of fun doing it! Check out the video then contact me if you have any questions at all!

Sneak Peek of CTMH Laughing Lola

I have had so much fun playing with one of the newest paper packs from Close To My Heart called Laughing Lola so I thought I'd give you all a sneak peek of it. I also used some of the new black mini medleys as well as some of the fantastic cuts from the new Artbooking Cricut cartridge that you are going to absolutely fall in love with! Wait till you see what you can do with this cartridge! Prepare to be amazed!

My intention was to create a layout with just one sheet of a pattern paper from the pack and I succeeded in doing that with a few scraps left over. So here is a card I created using up some of those scraps and I have enough left over to make one more card, I think. That's awesome, isn't it? To create a double page layout plus 2 cards with one sheet of pattern paper. Amazing!

***I would love to put this together for you as a kit which includes the card as well. Contact me for more info.***

Since I had several of the filmstrips cut from the cartridge while I was trying to decide what size to cut them for the first layout, I just had to use one of them on another layout. I was actually able to find some photos that worked perfectly for this layout so you could see how it would look with the photos added. I am totally loving Laughing Lola. It is such a pretty set of papers. I think you would like them also.

If you are interested in purchasing the Laughing Lola paper pack (beginning August 1) or any other wonderful Close To My Heart product go to my website at to place your order.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

I LOVE ice cream, don't you? I don't know too many people who don't love ice cream - it's so yummy and comes in so many delicious flavors that everyone is bound to like at least one! It's also tough to choose just one favorite but luckily I don't have to choose a flavor right now - I just have to share a card about ice cream with you as this week's Heart2Heart challenge is all about ice cream.

I had fun making this card and it got me in the mood for ice cream before I even finished it. I cut the cupcake image - from the Z1686 Art Philosophy cartridge - several times then cut the top part off and layered them to simulate chipboard since the cone part was a Z1685 chipboard banner. For the background, I used a masking tape technique by pressing a strip of the tape onto an ink pad then pressing it onto the white cardstock to make splotch-like marks. Love this technique and plan to use it more often.

Now it's your turn to create something ice cream-related and share it with us over at the Heart2Heart blog. Be sure to use mostly Close To My Heart products in your artwork or we will remove your link. Them's the rules! ;-)

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy scrampin'!

Happy Anniversary...... me and my wonderful husband! Yep! Today is our anniversary...our 37th anniversary to be exact! We have been married for 37 years! So hard to believe that much time has gone by already! Although it hasn't always been fun or easy, it has been totally worth it to keep our marriage together. I can't imagine my life any other way or without my husband in it.

Here is a card I made for my husband yesterday. Nothing like waiting until practically the last minute but I am so pleased with the way it turned out and I think he'll like it. I did a search online to find just the right verse for the inside and I think I picked one that is just perfect.

Inside sentiment:
I love you for so many reasons.
For every day you've been in my life.
For every moment you've brightened with your smile.
For every hard time you've helped me through.
For every beautiful memory we've made together.
And for every wonderful fun-filled day we still have ahead of us.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope your day is happy and you get a chance to create!

A Couple New Cards to Share

I haven't been in the mood to create any handmade cards lately but finally got in the mood the past couple days and wanted to share what I made. The background on my first card was created with masking tape. How, you ask? Well, I used a strip of masking tape that I first stuck on my shirt a couple times to remove some of the tackiness then pressed it into an ink pad then onto the cardstock. I used three different strips of tape since I wanted to use different colors of ink.

What I really love the most about this card is so simple but nice and so easy to mail since it has no bulkiness to it! I really like the effect the masking tape creates, too! So much so that I created a second card using this technique but can't show it to you yet as it is for the next Heart2Heart challenge that I participate in. You'll just have to wait! Sorry!

Stamp set used is D1535 Bugs & Hugs - ink colors used are Z2191 Sunset, Z2173 Slate & Z2140 Outdoor Denim.

My second card here is one I made for my son & his wife for their upcoming anniversary. Sssshhhh, don't tell them! Their anniversary isn't until the 17th so they haven't received it yet. Don't ask me how many years they've been married because I forget those things except my own, of course, which happens to be in 2 days!!! Wow, hubby and I will be married 37 years on the 10th. Amazing it has been that long already! Guess I'd better get making a card for him, too!

Supplies used: X7165B For Always paper pack, B1345 Forever in Love stamp set (n/a), Z1732 Seam Binding Ribbon which I colored with Z2162 Honey and Z2195 Lagoon inks then let dry, Z1752 Sparkles Assortment and Z2105 Black ink.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you totally enjoy your day!

Heart2Heart Masking Technique

Hello and welcome to another six months of ME and my creative projects! Yep, that's right! I am once again on the next Design Team A - now known as Team Twilight - for the awesome Heart2Heart challenge blog. Yea! I am excited to be staying on and look forward to the next six months of new challenges! And for our first challenge of this term - masking. I love the masking technique. There are so many effects you can create when using a mask.

In my card shown here, I used one mask in two different ways plus one other mask. First I cut a 2" oval from Colonial White cardstock using the Oval 1 on page 22 of the Z1686 Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. I placed the oval on top of a X1410 Colonial White card base then while using some temporary adhesive to hold it in place, I stamped around it with the script image from D1477 Universal Backgrounds stamp set in second generation Z2118 Desert Sand ink.

Next I took the negative oval shape and placed it on top of the area already stamped allowing an opening for me to ink around the inside edges using a sponge dauber inked with Desert Sand again. I then sponge-daubed the stem and leaves in Desert Sand ink using a mask which was left over from a previous project. Love the results, don't you?

Adding some organdy ribbon, three Z1844 little wooden hearts adorned with three Z1263 itty bitty sparkles and inked with Z2104 Barn Red, a sentiment from D1476 Card Chatter stamped in Barn Red and the antiqued copper metal embellishments really finished off the card. Hope you enjoy it!

Now it's your turn to create something using the masking technique to share it with us over at the Heart2Heart blog. Remember to use mostly CTMH products in your creation or we will remove your link. ;-(
