What Matters Most

Love, love, love this cute little mini album I created using a chipboard book from Close To My Heart. I've had the book for awhile - they are no longer available (boohoo) - and was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it. This is it!

I am taking a class by Lisa Day over at Big Picture Classes (I love that company) and this is the project for week #2. Make a mini album about the 5 most important aspects of your life that you want to focus on and change if necessary in order to be happy in life. It's helping me to really think about what is most important and how I can be sure they stay priorities in my life - Self, Family, Health, Organize & Business.

I thought the vibrant colors of the Laughing Lola paper pack from Close To My Heart worked great for my album because the colors make me happy! And isn't that the purpose of this mini album - to focus on what makes me happy? See, perfect! Hope you enjoy the album.

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy scrampin'!

Right here, Right now!

Thought I'd share a little mini album I created after being inspired by a post here. I love mini albums and any time I can create one is a good time! I had fun making this little album especially because it went so quickly. I love instant gratification, don't you? It really helps to keep you motivated and moving forward. Anyway, check it out and if you decide to make one of your own, please share!

Here's the front cover which I totally love! I used the Sarita paper pack from Close To My Heart to cover the 5" x 7 3/4" pieces of chipboard that I cut for the front & back covers. I then added some washi tape to cover the raw edges. That is such a cool thing to do. I will have to remember to do that more often. I used some of the washi tape on the front for decoration as well and love how it looks. Little strips of Sarita papers adds some interest and color to the pages. A little bit of stamping and a couple embellishments then binding with my Bind-It-All and it's done. So cute!

I think I may not only write the details of a specific day but take a photo of something that symbolizes that day as well and add that to the back of each of the pages. Yes, I think I like that idea!

Here's one of the inside pages. I printed out 12 pages, one for each month of the year and plan to just pick one day each month to record the 'right now' details. I think I'll start tomorrow since it's the beginning of a new month!

Hope you have enjoyed my mini album! Thanks for stopping by today! Happy scrampin'!

It's A BOY!!!!

Yay! We finally have a grandson! After 5 girls we finally have a baby boy and is he ever a cutie pie! Benjamin Ryan Labuski was born October 14th and everyone is happy and doing well! Sure wish I could hold him and kiss him but he lives too far away! ;-(

Anyway, I guess I must get to the real reason for my post...another Heart2Heart challenge. This week's challenge is to use 5 or more layers in your project. You're probably thinking that's a lot of layers, right? Well, it is but it's actually quite easy to create something with at least 5 layers. Just look at what I created!

I think I used at least 8 layers on this cute baby card I made for my son and daughter-in-law and I love how it turned out! I used the Babycakes paper pack (how appropriate, right?) and the Wild Wonders stamp set along with several cuts from the Artbooking Cricut cartridge.

Now it's your turn to create something with at least 5 layers and link it up on the blog so we can check it out! Be sure to use mostly Close To My Heart products in your artwork or we'll remove your link. Them's the rules! ;-)

Thanks for stopping by! Happy scrampin'!

An Interactive Water Challenge

For the heck of it I decided to enter this layout in a challenge over at the memory nest blog since it suits it perfectly - anything having to do with water with an interactive element to it. Hope you like it!

I used flip flaps from Close To My Heart on the layout - LOVE them - and the second photo shows the flip flaps open. They are an awesome way to put more photos on a layout, don't you agree? If you'd like to purchase some, you may do so here.

That Little Black Dress

I don't know about you but I don't even own a little black dress - mainly because I've not been a dress-wearer for many, many years. Don't really know why but at one point in my past I decided I didn't like wearing dresses anymore. Weird, I know. So when I saw this challenge for the Heart2Heart blog, I was like - what the heck can I create for this challenge? I don't own a little black dress to inspire me so I was really stumped.

Well, I went onto Pinterest to get some ideas but there wasn't much there, which I found quite unusual. Next I did a Google search and somehow was directed to Splitcoaststampers, I believe, (sorry, I always forget to write that info down) where a gal there had shared her template for a dress that could be made out of paper and added to a card. Ureka! I found what I was looking for! I am not real good at making my own patterns/templates so I am very happy that there are many talented ladies out there who know how to do that and don't mind sharing with the rest of us less talented souls! Thank you!

Supplies used are Close To My Heart unless noted:
  • X7165B - For Always paper pack
  • D1571 - Sweet & Lovely Artbooking stamp set
  • Z2118 - Desert Sand ink
  • Z2105 - Black ink
  • Z1732 - Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon
  • Z1263 - Bitty Sparkles
  • Z1799 - Silver Shimmer Trim
  • 2 Black Button Brads
  • Cuttlebug embossing folder
I hope you have enjoyed my 'almost' (it's not totally black) little black dress today. Maybe I inspired you to create something similar or maybe just inspired you to create? If so, please share your artwork with us over at the Heart2Heart blog and be sure to use mostly Close To My Heart products in your creation or your link will be removed. Sorry, them's the rules!

A Week of Life Lists

I LOVE taking online classes with Big Picture Classes! They inspire me so much to get out of my comfort zone and create something I never would have thought of on my own. What a wonderful bunch of talented ladies with such great ideas - I don't know how they come up with all of them! They are totally amazing and I am in awe of them.

One of the classes that I just took is called 'A Week of Life Lists'. In a nutshell, you create a 6" x 6" mini album that covers one whole week of your life. They provide the journaling prompts that you print out and add to each of 7 pages. Each day for a week, you write about how you're feeling and what you're listening to along with what you had to eat among many other daily activities. Including photos each day will help you to recall those days when you pick up that album sometime in the future. It's so important to record your everyday moments, if even just one week a year - no matter how insignificant you may think they are. You will thank yourself in your later years and your family will, too!

So without further ado....here is my mini album! It's not the complete album but you get the idea.

Although the inside pages of my album are 6" x 6", my album cover that was made with chipboard, actually measures 6 1/2" x 7 1/4". I used some 6" x 6" clear page protectors for my pages rather than having the pages unprotected.

I LOVE how this little album turned out and can't wait to finish it with photos and journaling. I am waiting for a week that I know will be exciting or at least not quite as boring as most of my weeks so I'll have some great photos to put in it.

If you ever find yourself with a creative block or just wanting to try something different, check out Big Picture Classes. You'll be glad you did!

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy scrampin'!
