30 Days of Lists - December 2013

As if I don't already have enough on my plate, I decided to join in on something a bit different to go along with my December Daily flip album - 30 Days of Lists. What is this all about, you ask? Well, since this is my first one, I am no expert so you can get all the details here. And if it sounds like something you'd like to try, be sure to sign up today because it starts TOMORROW!

Since this is my first time 'listing', I am starting out with a simple journal - one from Close To My Heart - that was on clearance and no longer available. Bummer! Glad I grabbed a couple before they disappeared. Anyway, I'm thinking maybe I'll just do the lists in the journal and the photos will be in my December Daily album. Not quite sure how I want to proceed with this challenge but it will come to me as I go along.

I created the cover in Microsoft Word, re-sized it to 5" x 7", added the words then printed it on Colonial White cardstock. I secured it to the canvas front with double-sided sticky tape - love that stuff! I then chose 2 colors of inks from CTMH that I thought would match - and they did perfectly - and stamped the large arrow images on a piece of cardstock then cut them out and adhered them to the cover. The smaller arrow images were stamped directly onto the cover piece. Love how it turned out and I am so ready for December 1st! Yea!

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy scrampin'!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving! Enjoy the time spent with your loved ones because that's what it's all about...being thankful for friends and family and all we enjoy in our lives. Although this year it's just hubby and I at the dinner table, we are very thankful for each other and the 44 years (7 years dating, 37 years married) we've been together. We wouldn't have it any other way!

We are especially thankful for our children and grandchildren. We are blessed to have them in our lives and wish we could see them more often. I also feel so grateful that my parents are still on this earth to enjoy this holiday.

Since we don't live in the same city as our family members, I am so thankful for Skype because we will be able to 'spend' the holiday with them even though we are miles apart!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Sponging Technique for Heart 2 Heart

Here is my creation for this week's Heart2Heart challenge - sponging technique. Can you tell where I sponged? Well, if not, I'll tell you! See all the scalloped border strips? I sponged the edges of them. I also sponged around the edges of the cardstock square that I stamped the wreath on.

I used a sponge inked with Desert Sand and starting from the edges of the cardstock, I swirled the sponge in a circular motion as I worked my way toward the center where I stamped the sentiment. By starting from the edges and working in a circular motion, you avoid leaving ink circles on your project. Just keep adding more ink to your sponge and moving in a circular motion until you get the effect you want. In my case, I wanted to keep the center quite a bit lighter than the outside edges so the sentiment would pop more.

The wreath itself was stamped in Versamark ink then embossed with white embossing powder. I waited for it to cool off before applying the Desert Sand ink. I then wiped off the excess ink from the embossed wreath so that it showed up even better. I added a ribbon knot, a strip of bronze shimmer trim and a few bits of bling here & there and called it done! Hope you enjoy it!

My December Daily Flip Album

Since December will be here before we know it, I wanted to get a jump-start on my December Daily album so it will be ready to go on the very first day. I want to be able to enjoy the holiday season without feeling stressed at all and getting this project out of the way is a big help!

Since taking these photos, I have completed the entire album but did not take photos of every page. You get the idea though, right?

This is the front cover - I added the year to the right corner of the cover after taking this photo.

As you can see, it's very simply decorated with minimal embellishments and page elements as I wanted to get 'er done quickly plus not have a whole lot of bulk to it. I'm thinking I may remove the album from the display stand after Christmas, create a front & back cover with chipboard, tie ribbons through the holes or maybe use binder rings, change out the paper inside the stand itself then reuse the stand for another monthly-type album. What do you think of that idea? Hmm, by golly, I think it would work!

I created my album with the Z1896 Designed Decor Flip Stand Album from Close To My Heart. Papers used are from the X7176B Sparkle & Shine paper pack which you can find here and I used many of the X7176C Sparkle & Shine Dimensional Elements chipboard pieces that coordinate with the paper pack. Many of the pages and all of the overlays were cut from the Z1906 Artbooking Cricut cartridge which I totally love and you can find here. The stamped numbers for each of the 25 days are from the D1552 Magical Days stamp set found here

This little album was so fun to make and I'm excited that it is all ready to go before December. One thing I'm ahead of the game on and one less thing to worry about! I hope you have enjoyed my album. Thanks for stopping by today and happy scrampin'!

Seeing Double

This week's Heart2Heart challenge is 'Seeing Double' which means create anything with at least 2 of the same item, image or embellishment or however you interpret it. Well, the jury is still out on my card but I decided not to take the time to create something different. I had other projects to work on and workshops to prepare for so I just couldn't find the time to create something new.

Anyway, here is my card. Can you 'see double' here? 2 scalloped circles with trees stamped on them, 2 scalloped borders, 2 knots in the twill ribbon, 2 metal leaves, 2 copper brads, 2 each of 2 different sized gems. What do you think? Did I overdo the 'seeing double' concept? Maybe, maybe not. This is not one of my best creations but it'll do!

Now it's your turn to 'see double' on a project and leave us a link to it over on the heart2heart blog so we can check it out. Remember to use mostly Close To My Heart products on your artwork or we'll remove your link. Them's the rules!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrampin'!

Say you love the palette and designs of the Babycakes program but wish to apply a “family” theme—go ahead! It’s one of the unique differentiators and possibilities of the program! With a large quantity of product in each program you will be able to craft creative arrangements all your own. Each program includes 122 double-sided cards plus 10 unique Memory Protectors™ to capture life as it happens, and their versatility and gorgeous designs will transform your albums into masterpieces. On one side of each card is space for journaling, and on the other you’ll find artistic sentiments and icons. Each program is designed to accommodate approximately 100 photos in your included Memory Protectors, so with a balance of photos and cards, you’ll finish with about 20 remaining cards. That means you have plenty of choice and flexibility in which cards you choose to include, making it uniquely yours! Of course, you can easily use more or fewer photos in your project to suit your story’s needs.

Unique to Picture My Life is the included 12" × 12" double-sided cover page with each individual program, using a beautiful My Reflections™ pattern. True to Close To My Heart standards, the cover page offers a finished and cohesive look to your project with its featured high-quality design. The Picture My Life program is so versatile that you’ll find dozens of other ways to incorporate it into your papercrafting. Use the cards to expand other projects you’ve started! For example, if you just got back from the trip of a lifetime and wonder how you will capture all the details, mix the Picture My Life cards with your photos to extend your scrapbook pages. Choose your very favorite photos to scrapbook on 12" × 12" two-page layouts then use coordinating Picture My Life cards and your remaining photos to document the rest of your trip in minutes.

This program is yet another new, fresh addition and option for memory keepers to preserve their memories. You say you don't have time to scrapbook? Well, this new program is right up your alley! You'll be preserving your family memories quicker than you ever thought possible! The cards enhance the scrapbooking experience—making it even more fun—and they work brilliantly in mini albums, My Crush™ books, as journaling cards on your 12" × 12" classic scrapbook pages, or as gift cards and tags.
