Free To Be Me Layout

I am totally in love with this layout. I love the papers I used - Free To Be Me from Close to my Heart. I love the circles. I love the distressed papers, the vellum, the feathers and all the little touches here & there but most of all, I love the real stitching!

I always hesitate to actually use real stitching on my layouts because I fear I may mess it up but I forged ahead and breathed a sigh of relief when I finished and it looked great! I thought at first that maybe I went a little over the top with the embellishing but the more I look at it, the more I like it. I hope you do, too!

The two cuties in the photo are my granddaughter Samantha and her baby brother Ben.

Most supplies used are Close to my Heart except as noted:
Free To Be Me paper pack, C1584 Feathers stamp set, Z1853 Aqua Dots, Z1844 Trinkets Wooden Shapes, Smoothie & Lagoon inks plus chipboard letters that are no longer available, white thread and sewing machine by Singer.

You can purchase any of the Close to my Heart products here.

Currently 5/5/14

Nothing fancy this time, no photo, no pretty papers - just the list! A very late list! ;(

April 2014 Month in Review

Another month gone! Where does the time go? Not sure where it goes but it sure goes by fast! Here's my April month-in-review page.
I am not sharing a photo this time. I created a collage of 3 photos - one of my mom, one of my mom & sister at the cemetery and one of our family members who attended mom's 80th birthday party but I wanted to keep it private so I'm only sharing the summary of my month.

  1. Participated in April Gratitude project
  2. Tree Swallows came back!
  3. Bluebirds built a nest but then abandoned it (?)
  4. Celebrated Mom's 80th birthday!
  5. Visited Dad at the cemetery
  6. Stared 2 new BPC classes - Project Life Lessons & Photography 101, which I won free!
  7. Bought a new garden sculpture
  8. Closed out the month with torrential rain!
Keep scrappin' & smilin'!

My Details Finally!

Remember back on April 5th I posted about an online workshop I was going to participate in called My Details? I had hoped to post as I completed each day's prompts but I wasn't following a daily routine with this project for some reason so I never posted any of the pages. ;( Someday maybe I'll get more organized! But without further ado, here is the album I created for this workshop following ten different prompts - one each day for ten days.

I used a Studio Calico handbook bought here along with four different styles of page protectors. The journaling cards I used are Studio Calico's April Project Life kit - Bluegrass Farm and Skylark Picture My Life from Close to my Heart.

I am so happy to have been able to use up some old letter stickers I've had in my stash for so long plus those little wooden shapes from CTMH seem to find their way onto just about every piece of artwork I create lately. I love them! The 'Embrace Today' stamp set is an Ali Edwards design from Technique Tuesday. Other stamped letters are from Close to my Heart.

And that's it! I hope you enjoyed My Details album and maybe you learned a few facts about me. Although I'm not a very exciting person nor do I have tons of fun every day of my life but I love my life right now and have enjoyed sharing just a little piece of it with you.

Have a great day!

Happy National Scrapbook Day - Part 3

I know National Scrapbook Day is over but here's another layout I created to share on the Instagram #NSD10k feed in order to possibly win an awesome prize. It's always fun to win, right? Well, today is the last day to upload any layouts you've created in celebration of NSD so get those layouts posted before it's too late!

Supplies used:
Free To Be Me paper pack from Close To My Heart, 2 journaling cards downloaded from a Big Picture class I'm taking, Z1863 Midtown Cork Shapes and Z1931 Honey Triangles washi tape from CTMH, Ali Edwards stamp, flair button from Evalicious, shaped paper clip (sorry, can't remember where it's from) and black ink.

Hope you've enjoyed the third layout I created for National Scrapbook Day. If you created any, please leave a link to your artwork in the comments so I can check it out.

Happy scrampin'!

Happy National Scrapbook Day - Part 2

Hey everyone! I hope you had as much fun scrapping today as I did! I want to share a second layout I made while playing in my scrap room today. Like last year, I took a pic of myself scrapping on this special day and used that photo on a layout. So here I am in the second layout I made having fun showing off the first layout I made today in celebration of NSD.

One of the presenters on the Big Picture Classes 10K scrap event today showed how she ran some of her 3x4 and 4x6 journaling cards through various embossing folders then spritzed with water and ink for a watercolor effect and I loved the result.

However, I didn't want to take a lot of time to complete my layout so instead of using her exact techniques, I substituted a spray pen from Close to my Heart filled with chocolate ink and water to spritz on the layout before adding the photo and embellishments. I also inked the edges of the cards with the chocolate ink so that they would stand out more on the page. I love how it turned out!

Supplies used: One 3x4 card from Skylark Picture My Life kit from Close To My Heart, one gold-ish 3x4 piece of cardstock from the Free To Be Me kit from Close To My Heart, four 3x4 cards, one 4x6 card and a couple embellishments from Studio Calico, four embossing folders (Cuttlebug & Sizzix), chocolate ink and wooden and cork stars from Close To My Heart and letter stickers are from Amy Tangerine.

You can purchase any of the Close to my Heart products here.
