Around here today....

Hello, hello! I thought I'd have a little fun today and do something different - an 'around here' post to show you what my day was like as well as what most of my days are like. They're not very exciting, in fact most days especially in the winter, can be quite uneventful - but they're my days and I make the most of them. I look for my own excitement in each and every day here at home as I don't venture outside often during the winter. So without further ado, here are some photos I took today to share with you......
Love the Downy Woodpeckers who frequent the suet cakes we hang for them.
HSN had their craft show on the air today. No, I didn't order anything!
I am loving my new Scentsy warmer. Today I am enjoying the scent of Cinnamon Bear.
These are the shoes I wore while running up & down the stairs several times doing laundry today. They are Sketchers and one of my most favorite pairs of shoes EVER!
I searched through all my handmade cards looking for birthday cards to send my brother for his birthday on the 24th and my daughter's boyfriend whose birthday is the 25th. I ended up finding some store-bought cards in another basket and picked 2 of them instead. Oh well, they're for men so the handmade ones aren't appreciated as much.
Laundry - one of my favorite chores. NOT! Except in the spring & summer when I can hang clothes outside to dry.
And here on the bench in the foyer sits 2 bags of clothes received for Christmas that need to be taken back to Boscov's for an exchange. It's only been a month - well almost!
This little glass bird sitting on the window ledge is pretty blue today. He seems to be watching & waiting for nice weather, too.

I actually did get a chance to play with some tags, stencils, inks and embossing powders today and had a ton of fun but forgot to put the photos into my laptop for sharing with you so stay tuned for another post maybe tomorrow. I'll show you what I made if I remember! ;)

That's it for today. I told you my days are pretty uneventful and here's the proof. Ha ha! But they're my days and I like them.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a good one!

Have I told you lately...... much I am enjoying my new Heidi Swapp planner? My goodness, I never thought I would have so much fun with a planner! We're only halfway through this month and I am adding so much to it that I'm afraid I'll run out of space even before I get all the way through January - and there are still 11 more months to go - but wow, am I ever having a lot of fun with it!

I thought I would share a few pages with you so you can see for yourself how much fun I'm having + to also give you some creative ideas you may not have thought of for use in your own planner, if you are using one this year. So here goes.....

This is my planner! HELLO! Isn't it gorgeous? I know gold seems to be the 'in' color right now in scrapbooking/memory keeping but I have always been a silver girl so this is just my style! And I absolutely love this shade of green.
Here's the first couple pages where I attached 2 photos of myself that I took on the very first day of the new year. I'm not excited about this planner and a whole new year, though! Ha! I know you know that's a lie! I have never been so excited to start a brand new year than I am this year.

As some of you may recall, last year at this time, I was still very much grieving the loss of my beloved dad who passed away the day after Christmas 2013.  So needless to say, the first few months of 2014 pretty much sucked!

This year, however, is a brand new year and although I still miss my dad so very much, the pain of his death has lessened and life does go on for those of us left behind so we must do what we can to be happy. This planner helps to make me happy!
I stamped some circles and words from one of the Ali Edwards Story Stamp kits on the right page and love how it looks! Although the page is a pretty color by itself, it was lacking something so I put my own spin on it to perk it up. Love it!
Now here is what I really wanted to show you. Isn't this a cool idea? To add the currently card right inside of the planner? AND put it inside of a Close to my Heart flip flap to protect it + have more space to write when it's flipped? I LOVE this idea!
Here's where the flip flap is flipped over. Pretty cool, huh? Note to self: remember to flip the card over before writing on the back so the words will be upright when the flap is flipped. AND just look at those cute even littler 2x2 flip flaps? They are perfect for - you guessed it - 2x2 photos!
Here's another way to incorporate a currently list in your planner: connect two attach-me tabs (from Basic Grey) to the side of a 3x4 card AFTER writing your words and making sure to line up the holes. Pretty cool, huh? I stamped the word currently at the top of this 3x4 card and the word watching as a prompt for my writing.
Here's another peek inside my planner showing a couple of the inserts that come with taking the Capture 30 class with Heidi Swapp over at Big Picture Classes.
Another currently card attached inside my planner. This 3x4 card was plain until I stamped it with some of the images from the currently stamp set by Kristin Tweedale over at See the full stamp set below.
Here are 2 stamp sets that coordinate with the Heidi Swapp planner. I LOVE these stamps and plan to use them in my planner throughout the year.
And here's the currently stamp set. Isn't it cool? You can totally stamp every one of the prompt words if you want or just stamp one or even two to write about as I did in the cards shown earlier in this post.

So that concludes my post about all the fun I'm having with my new planner and how I coordinate my currently cards inside it. If you are using a planner this year, I'd love to see what creative elements you are adding to yours. If you'd like to get your hands on a set of these awesome currently stamps, head on over to Kristin's shop.

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy planning and happy scramping!

Happy New Year + One Little Word

I know, I know! I'm a tad bit late wishing you all a Happy New Year and I really have no excuse except for being busy as usual. I even bought myself a planner this year (one of those cute ones from Heidi Swapp) so I could try to stay on track and stick with a plan but I've already forgotten to do some of the things I wrote in it as reminders. I'm pathetic for sure! But I will plug along and do my best.

I want to STRIVE, that's my One Little Word for this year, to STAY more organized, WORK my business more, BE active and exercise more regularly, EAT healthier, BE a better listener, LIVE more in the moment instead of thinking of what needs to be done next, get over my FEAR of taking long trips as I'd love to drive back to Illinois this year again to see my grandchildren and I just want to ENJOY my days more! Is that too much to ask? I don't think so!

It took me awhile to decide first whether I even wanted to participate in One Little Word again this year (my word for 2014 was PURGE, as some of you may remember) and second, what that word would or should be. STRIVE came to me a couple days ago and as soon as it hit me, I knew I was going to join in Ali's class again. I had almost resigned myself to the fact that I wasn't going to do it this year but when STRIVE hit me, it hit me good and hard!

There are so many things I want to STRIVE for this year, some of which I noted above plus I'm sure I can think of many more, and I am looking forward to seeing where this word will take me in 2015. I love the fact that just one little word can have such an impact on my life and help me to live it more purposefully and with more enthusiasm. It gives me just one more reason to get my lazy bones out of bed every morning. Just the thought of knowing that it's a brand new day to experience no matter how mundane my life really is, gets me very excited and motivated to get up each morning with a purpose and a smile on my face!

If you'd like to participate in Ali's One Little Word project, it's not too late. Head over to her website and read all about it to see if it's something you may be interested in. It's not a huge endeavor, it won't take up a whole lot of your time and I promise you will truly enjoy it plus maybe even learn something new about yourself. What are you waiting for? Give it a try and see for yourself how fun and rewarding it can be!

Happy scramping!
