Day in the Life Album

Hello Friends! Since my Week in the Life album for 2015 is finally all done - YAY! I am so happy! - I can now concentrate on the upcoming Day in the Life project from Ali Edwards. I participated in this project two other times, I believe, and totally enjoyed it so I am looking forward to this one as well.

I have already chosen the mini album I will use for this project and I think it's going to work out wonderfully! The date for this event will be here before you know it - March 29 - so if you're interested in participating, click here for more details and here to order the Instalife mini album and accessories I'm using, if you'd like. Of course, Ali is offering a Day in the Life kit so feel free to purchase that one if you wish or use what you already have in your stash. I just thought I'd share what I'm using and offer it to you as an option.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a scramping good day!

I'm a Guest Artist!

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to let you know that I am a guest artist - artist? really? me, an artist? okay, I'll take it! ;) - on the Irreversibly Moi blog this month. I'm sharing a tutorial of a watercolor card I made recently. It's nothing super fancy or anything like that - I prefer my cards to be easily mailed to a loved one and to arrive in one piece - but a nice, simple card with a couple techniques you might enjoy. Click here to go right to it and let me know what you think!

Be sure to bookmark the Irreversibly Moi site! You not only will learn some cool stuff from Susan and other awesome artists but yours truly will be back each month with a new project as well. Yay! Next month I hope to share an art journal page featuring a couple techniques so stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by today! Now, go make some art!

It's Almost 30 Days of Lists Time Again!

I'm getting excited!!! It's almost time for the next round of listing from Amy & Kam over at 30 Days of Lists! Will you be joining in this round? I am! I have already registered and have my album almost ready to go. I will be using the same 6" x 8" Studio Calico album as I've used for the past three listing challenges since there's still some space left.

This time around I will be using the new Love Your Selfie Picture My Life Scrapbooking kit from Close To My Heart. I love the colors of this kit and can't wait to see how all my lists will come together while using it.

The two cards already in the album will be my title cards where I always put the month & year for each challenge. I hope to have that ready within a day or two and will share when it's done.

Give it some thought but don't wait too long! March 1st will be here before you know it! Register here for this fun challenge!

Happy listing!

The Color is Love

Hi all! I recently received some new stencils from Stencil Girl Products and enclosed in the envelope was a card (they always include a card that always has a nice artsy quote on it) that I absolutely loved so I added it to an art journal page that I had started a few days ago. The colors were just perfect for my page! I was so excited when I saw the card that I knew I had to use it on my page along with the new stencils, too, of course! So here is what I created.

The background is a piece of Gelli printed deli paper that I made quite some time ago and wanted to use up and when I saw the card matched it so perfectly, it was a win-win in my book! I added a bit more color with the new stencils then used a homemade heart stencil and a black pen to trace around the inside of the various size hearts.
To attach the card so it would flip out to reveal journaling underneath, I used an opaque white washi tape strip. I then ran a black ink pad around the edges of the page and the card and called it done. Love how it turned out!

In case you can't read the quote on the card here is what it says:
In our life there is a single color,
as on an artist's palette,
which provides the meaning of life and art.
The color is love.

Get Messy Happy Season

Hello artsy friends! I'm participating in the new 'Season of Happy' over at Get Messy so I wanted to share some artwork I created by following a couple of the first week's prompts.

But first let me show you the cover of my homemade art journal I made using some Gelli prints. Isn't it cool? So happy to be using these prints after making them some time ago. Gelli plate printing is so much fun! If you haven't tried it yet, you really should! You'll see more of the inside pages of my journal as I go along with this season's prompts.

This first page was created on a piece of mixed media paper before deciding to use my handmade art journal for the full 'season of happy' so it isn't actually going to fit inside of my art journal but I'm okay with that. I added it to another journal instead.

I followed the first 2 prompts for this page - ART prompt: Use your happiness colors in your favorite medium & EXTRA Challenge: Use only color & pattern, no words - and love how it turned out!

The next prompt I used is the JOURNAL prompt: Where is your happy place? My happy place is my scrap room and here's a photo of it! I did write some journaling on the left page but it's hard to see here. It's nothing really private so I'll share what I wrote.

My scrap room is my happy place! I have several other places that make me happy, too, but this room is by far the one that makes me happiest because I get to play to my heart's content any time I want to!

I hope you've enjoyed my artwork so far for the 'Season of Happy'! Won't you join us? Just go to Get Messy and sign up!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a messy day!

I am so excited!

A recent piece of my artwork was actually shared on Instagram by Stencil Girl Products*! Wow! Isn't that cool? I used several Stencil Girl stencils on my piece - some by Julie Snidle and some by Mary Beth Shaw. I had so much fun with this project but wasn't quite sure it was good enough to share until after staring at it for awhile and realizing that it was actually beginning to grow on me! Then I figured, what the heck!

The colors, the texture, the patterns created by the strips and the various stencils used all come together for a very pleasing experience to the eye. Well, at least I think so! ;) The quote was a perfect finish, too! I'm thinking of framing this and hanging it in my craft room for inspiration.
Have you dabbled in art journaling yet? Or maybe mixed media? If you haven't, you really should give it a try. It is so much fun and so very therapeutic for what ails you! Grab some mixed media paper, paints, stencils, paper scraps and pens and start playing! There's no right or wrong way, just have fun!

Join the Stencil Girl monthly stencil club for just $25. As a member of the club, you receive a 20% discount on any additional stencils you purchase.

I'm also getting excited about an upcoming opportunity for me but you're going to have to wait a few more days before I can tell you as I want to be sure it comes through. So stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a crafty good day!
